PG OKC - Bucks Fall Short

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Tue Feb 4, 2025 3:10 am

I'll let some you guys dissect the rotations and matchups of our G-League/bench vs. best team in the league if you want.

G-League guys vs SGA and starters - bad

G-League guys vs OKC bench - good
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

The future looks bright. Like when you die and they say you see a bright light.

Johnson might be a good one. Rollins needs to play more. That’s all I got.

96 points for that team is quite the accomplishment if you ask me. Marjon with a cool +9 in a 29 point loss. Trade him for Luka now before the secret is out!

Hope the young guys got something positive out of that and see what they need to do to be in this league.

I just think some of the AJ Johnson talk is really dumb. If you want to criticize the decision to draft a developmental project when you're a supposedly a contender, that's more than fair. I've done that. I kind of want him to be someone else's dice roll.

But then don't also evaluate said developmental project, who's practically coming out of high school to boot, as some finished article. And beyond that it's like he can't x, y, & z off this game. "He can't defend". Guys seldom got separation. He ran an offense ok, got to the rim, made a few j's. He didn't have a negative +/- in a game we lost by 29 (keeping it w/in 30 is an accomplishment).

I did love watching the young kids one other thing I like about AJ Johnson nobody is blowing by him for layups and at 6’5 with the handles to play pg with that speed not many 20 yrs out there can do that. More experience get in weight room put on some weight he could be really good. Same with Smith needs to get stronger but at 6’9 can get that shot off at anytime just needs to be more consistent.

Jokes aside, I do like AJJ's tools. He's got breakneck speed and a good feel for the game. Just wish he would be ready to contribute in a meaningful way while Giannis is still in his prime.

Let's at least give AJ Johnson the same grace we gave rookie Marjon and rookie Jackson, Jr. And then let's add a little more grace on top of that. Maybe he won't pan out but it's silly to write him off right now.

A relief to see the Thunder finally missed on a pick. 1st rounder Dillon Jones was scoreless in 25 minutes tonight. He hasn't been able to score in the G League either.

Has anyone wrote him off? It was a dumb pick, but I think everyone thinks he might eventually help.

Do the Bucks even teach the mid range game?

AJ Johnson turned 20yrs old 2 months ago. The kid has clear talent, other than not being “NBA ready” what’s really not to like about him?

Was nice to see a glimpse of the post-Giannis years tonight. And by nice, I mean horrifying.
