Kevin Durant Has No Desire In Trade To Warriors

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Feb 5, 2025 8:03 pm

Kevin Durant does not want to be traded back to the Golden State Warriors almost six years after he left the franchise.

"The Warriors have been seriously pursuing Kevin Durant over the last week, but sources tell me Durant has no desire in a reunion with the Warriors," said Shams Charania. "He does not want to go back to the Warriors."

I didnt understood in the first place why the Heat would help the Warriors get Durant in this deal vs just take Durant themselves.

Different circumstances. Only thing that a KD trade and Beal trade have in common is a stupid owner and an incompetent front office.

My point is why would anyone have traded for him?

I've been the saying the same thing Kent is here since the trade happened.

Traded for Beal? Owner wanted to make a splash with his own "Big 3" and Isiah Thomas was in his ear.

IDK -- it's Shams (and others) reporting it

Sounds to me like PHX wants Jimmy and is not willing to let Beal stop them

I assume Heat would have to send draft capital too of course, but nothing Ishbia does would surprise me at this point.

You're right that there is an answer to the question.

A terrible answer. But an answer.

And I realize it's not you who made the deal.

Yep. Other than the KD trade, there's no deal they've made that can be objectively analyzed.

i would love that tbh.

Kd would give them some veteran presence and great mentorship. he might not be the best leader but he can definitley show them the ropes a little bit what it takes to win.

also i think OKC fans deserve to close that KD chapter on a high note. who knows maybe OKC will hang his jersey in the rafters one day, if that would actually happen.

not sure if his jersey will be hanging somewhere else. i think it could help KDs tarnished legacy

This is understandable. Dude wasn't happy at GS because he knew he was a bus rider. So left to do his own thing and win but spluttered pretty badly along the way only proving doubters right. Now, only to have himself crawl back to that team with nothing to show for it would probably hurt his pride badly. Even if he wins there, the things people would say about him would be his worst nightmare and we all know he's got rabbit ears. He's already got championships with asterisks, he doesn't need more. If he's going to win one, he probably wants to do it on his own terms and that's just not there at GS.

He's on a .500 team who might not even make the post-season. If he's worried about the "optics" of how he wins his next ring, he's delusional. He's always been sorta sulky, and thin-skinned. A 'grudge holder'. I think Draymond "triggered" him back in the day, and he's never gotten over it. Probably holds a grudge that the team didn't rally around him, and fire Draymond on the spot.
