Re: Masai Approval Rating Post-Deadline
I personally would give the FO an A-
I think the acquisition of Ingram is a terrific move (we only trade our expiring contracts and got a 27 year old All-Star).
We now have a legit starting lineup heading into next season, that's still relatively young.
If things don't pan out, we have the pieces now to put together a compelling package for a star player.
Masai is talent hunting, and the fact of the matter is that he converted two benchwarmers into a star player.
Within a season he turned Siakam and OG (both expiring contracts).... into.... Ingram, Quickley, Barrett, Ochai, Walter, Mogbo
That's insanely impressive. Let's not forget that he also turned Jalen McDaniels (who is no longer in the league) into 3 second round picks, including Jamal Shead.
Masai seems to have his mojo back after a couple seasons of making questionable decisions (e.g., Poeltl trade, losing players to free agency, etc.)
It's a welcomed sight.
Some are fearful that these recent acquisitions may affect our tank, as there is a a lot of FUD being spread by Toronto media as about the FO trying to make a play-in push. But that is far from the case.
We are already locked into the bottom 5-6 range of the league standings. We're not catching the Hornets for #4, and we're not surpassing 76ers (who are 5 games ahead) for #7.
The recent stretch where we went 7-1 is what cost us a bottom 3 seed. Ironically, the guys we traded away at the deadline (Bruce, Kelly, Davion) played a large part in us winning those pointless games. Masai trading away the vets proves he's dead set on the tank. We likely won't see BBQ + Ingram share the floor together this season. Quickley and Poeltl will remain out with hip injuries, Ingram will take his sweet time coming back into the lineup, and RJ and Scottie will be in & out of the lineup.

He’s definitely turned it around from 2020-2024 when he was brutal.

He’s overrated especially for one of the highest paid executives.
Preaches patience but he doesn’t have any himself.

Post-championship hangover lasted a bit longer than expected.

I gave him a D. I still don't see the direction of the team but an F would be reserved for Nico Harrison or AK.

Re: Masai Approval Rating Post-Deadline
I give him a B. To me everything is going ever so slightly above average so far.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Re: Masai Approval Rating Post-Deadline
A
We aren't getting any firsts and apparently no one liked Brown, Boucher or Olynyk enough for a future pick. We got a young former all star for very cheap. We'll rehab and trade Ingram down the line. Ingram hasn't been on a team run by adults in a long time. I would say he has a good chance to propel upwards here.
Wiseman is a good buy low option. Darko is going to turn him into a winner.

Re: Masai Approval Rating Post-Deadline
Turning OG into RJ + IQ + Mogbo was an A+. Essentially turning Siakam into Ingram + Ochai + JKW is an A. Turning McDaniels into Shead + 2 additional 2nds was an A+. Bench mob 2.0 is on its way right now and another very high pick is on the horizon. It took a few years to really get back on track, but the future is looking very promising — especially if we can add a top talent in the 2025 draft while retaining Ingram for ~40M/year. All-in-all, I’d give the FO an A- right now.

Re: Masai Approval Rating Post-Deadline
I went A- was thinking B+ but hey, I'm a Raptor FAN. We basically got a whole new team off the backs of OG Pascal Thad & McDaniels, all expirings if I'm not mistaken.
We are now in a position where we end up with a top 4 pick and he genuinely might not start year 1 and rightfully so. Everyone has to earn their keep from here on out, you want playing time, you want to be the leader or the man, go ahead. Luckily this group likes eachother and they're all good/willing passers

Immature to rate all these injured players.
Those are not bad trades, but most of these trades are gambles.
Sometimes it works, like Kawhi Leonard, and sometimes it doesn't, like Otto Porter.
After all, do you think all these would result us in the playoffs next season? Or would this end with Darko being let go?

Can't give an A considering how we are falling in the tank race this year. Good job acquiring assets though so B+ overall

Wait and see with me. Excited to see high end talent added but who knows if he stays or plays.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.
