Hi all,
I am MIN fan coming with peace. MIN frontcourt lacks depth and our FO should address this issue this summer. I have seen that Day'Ron Sharpe regularly gets significant playing time from the bench. What is your feeling about his future in Brooklyn? Does FO see value in giving him multiyear contract? If so how much he is worth in your opinion? I also have a few question about his skillset. He does not have an enormous wingspan, but he looks good finishing at rim with either hand, correct? He is massive body, but does he run in transition well? I saw him making a really good passes, do you think he has potential as passing big, at least from the bench?

Re: Day'Ron Sharpe question
I believe Sharpe has solid potential. I see him averaging 14/10/1.5 blocks per game if he was a full time starter. He can shoot the 3, he's a good rebounder as well, he runs the floor well. I think he would of been a great pickup for the Lakers especially with Bron and Luka feeding him, the Lakers fans and media would make him out to be bigger than what he really is.
He's been injured and hasn't gotten as much playing time because of Claxton but I think a team will throw a big bag at him and might force us to match it. He can also be foul prone at times. But maybe 12-15M per year for 4 years? I wouldn't be mad if Nets match that but anything more is a no go for me.

Do Sharpe injuries have long term risks?
P.S. Two side questions: why Noah Clowney's stats look worse than year ago? What happened with Ziaire Williams after hot start? Is he 3&D material?

Also you can ask me about NAW and Julius Randle, since both might be available as FA.

Welcome, friend.
I think that our GM Sean Marks is interested in keeping Day'Ron. I would guess they'll end up on a3yr contract with an average annual value (AAV) just above the non taxpayer MLE. Something like 3yr, $45mil. He might prefer to sign the QO and test the market in 2026 as an unrestricted free agent. I would be OK with either outcome, I would rather not tie up $40mil of payroll into our C rotation for the next few seasons, but I am OK with rewarding his development.
Yeah, Sharpe has a bit of craft as a finisher, just a bit. He is an elite rebounder, and runs the floor well for his size although he doesn't have the awareness to make himself available for more easy transition buckets. As for his passing, I like to call it "nifty". He understands the short roll playmaking reads enough to know where guys usually are, but IMO he lacks the true court vision to see a play develop before rifling a pass. So, sometimes it's really impressive when he finds a corner shooter, other times he'll fire it straight out of bounds with no one nearby. I would not enjoy seeing him as an offensive hub for the 2nd unit, but hey, he's shown enough flashes that he might mature in that department.
I hope that helps. I like Sharpe. I honestly wouldn't hate the idea of trading Clax and rolling with Day'Ron as a young, cost controlled starter until we find a star at the 5. Iactually have some faith in him to grow as a 3pt shooter. But there are limitations to his talent.
Some people really have a way with words. Other people... not... have... way.

Re: Day'Ron Sharpe question
I think the nets will try to keep sharpe but I see it may be a problem if the contract demands are too high.
I think sharpe is very good rebounder. Especially on the offensive side. He knows how to position himself to get the rebounds and focuses on that. I think his game has developed more this season to becoming more offensive as well. He’s also blocking more shots this season than in previous seasons. He is clearly working on his game and body.
Negatives for him.
As a guy that is such a great rebounder he has horrible hands. Idk how that works but on offense he tends to not catch the pass and fumble the ball a lot. He is also prone to foul trouble. And has been injured a lot so far throughout his career. Nothing longer term major. But those nagging injuries like hamstrings that keep a player out for weeks.
I think is the price is right the nets will resign him. I think if he gets some 100 mill offer for another team the nets will let him go.

Clowney's stats aren't great but you really saw it coming together at points this year. He's got a lot of filling out to do physically before we see his efficiency jump, but given that he was drafted a a developmental piece I think he's right on schedule for where he's at.
He's not necessarily the kind of player I'd target if I'm Minnesota but for a team that's years away like the Nets he's a worthwhile investment...
