Which bottom feeder offers Flagg the best path to success?

Post#1 » by JustBuzzin » Tue Feb 18, 2025 3:44 pm

I think the NBA is going to want to set this kid up for success and this feels like another possible rigged draft for one of the next faces of the NBA. That being said of the top 5 bottom feeders which team sets Flagg up for immediate success?

Immediate success? I guess the best possible answer is New Orleans. They don't have a bad team, they have a lot of injuries. Toronto also has some nice talent. So one of those two.

I'd say Toronto, only because they have a solid core group of 'win now' players that would likely be in the 36-44 win range next year.

It would take pressure off Flagg to deliver. Though, you can't possibly have him come off the bench, so someone would need to sit? RJ probably...

I think Charlotte is actually the best fit for him basketball wise, but their surrounding talent is quite low.

New Orleans and Toronto already have ball handling wings and a lack of real shot creators. It would be kind of weird seeing him paired with Barnes/Ingram or Zion/Murphy - there isn’t an obvious open spot for him on the wing there like there is in Charlotte.

What determines when the league "rigs" the draft?

Flagg/Zion does sound scary especially if Zion could just stay healthy!

The Spurs are not a bottom feeder, but if I was Flagg I would be praying that's where I end up.

Spurs already drafted the 2 best players in back to back drafts with Wemby/Castle. On top of that they traded for Fox.

Please NBA do not let them get Flagg!

Utah. They have a good GM who has 6 net additional FRPs or FRP swaps to barter. Plus they already have decent young talent (Kessler, George, Collier) whose timelines support a multiple year run with a young Flagg. Lauri's no old man yet either.

Only has a ~5% chance of ending up in San Antonio

It will probably be an EC team. The West already got the last big name in Wemby.

Toronto. He'd get to play with some decent talent right away and would be joining a team that has done a very good job developing forward prospects with shaky jumpers.
