Packers News, Transactions, Trade Talk - Jaire Released

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Fri Mar 7, 2025 1:56 pm

A "high ranking scout" with another team thinks Adams will get $20 million a year based on Keenan Allen getting $23 million last year at 32 and Mike Evans $20.5 million extension at 31.

Dougherty says he would offer a second for Metcalf but since it's a late second it might take a first and he would do it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Barnwell

How much could the Seahawks get for Metcalf?
Not as much as Seahawks fans might hope. There have been wide receivers who have landed first-round picks in trades over the past few years, including Stefon Diggs (with a seventh-round pick for first-, fifth- and sixth-round picks) in 2020, Davante Adams (first- and second-round picks) in 2022, and Tyreek Hill (five picks, including first- and second-round selections) in 2022. It's difficult to imagine Seahawks fans being satisfied with anything short of a first-round pick for Metcalf, if not more.

Those comps might be aggressive. Diggs was entering his age-27 season when the Bills acquired him from Minnesota, and he was in the middle of a team-friendly contract. Metcalf is entering his age-28 season and will require a new contract in the next 12 months. Hill was at the same point of his career, but the fleet-footed wideout had been named first-team All-Pro twice with Kansas City before he joined the Dolphins. And while Adams was two years older, he was coming off back-to-back first-team All-Pro nods in Green Bay when he was sent to the Raiders.

Metcalf has averaged just under 66 receiving yards per game over the past three years, which is in line with what Diggs (68.2) produced over his final three years in Minnesota. It's still well behind what Hill (76.7) and Adams (93.4) generated over their last three seasons before being traded. Metcalf's 2.0 yards per route run ranks 33rd among wideouts over the past three seasons, which is good, certainly, but he's immediately below the production of Christian Kirk, who was just traded away by Jacksonville.

Admittedly, some allowance needs to be made for the quality of quarterback play involved. Metcalf wasn't catching passes from Patrick Mahomes or the last MVP-caliber version of Aaron Rodgers. Metcalf's camp is probably projecting that he could have produced something closer to Hill's or Adams' performance with the Chiefs or Packers, respectively. But Metcalf's only second-team All-Pro appearance came in 2020, five seasons ago. Anyone who has seen him knows he's capable of the spectacular, but his production in recent years has been more solidly consistent than great.

Heading into Free Agency, I think the Packers only have one true "need", a deep threat WR

At C, you could slide Jenkins or Rhyan over and start Morgan at G

At CB, Nixon/Valentine isn't an ideal starting duo, but it's passable

On the DL, Kenny/Wyatt/Brooks could use another piece, but all 3 are fine

At Edge, we could use more pass rush, but rolling LVN/Cox/Enagbare opposite Gary atleast provides hope for development

At LB, Edge/Quay/McDuffie could use another guy, but is passable as is

QB/RB/TE/OT/S are all set and ready to go

We finished last season with a top 10 offense & top 10 defense and haven't lost anyone of real significance.

Leaves a lot of flexibility in Free Agency & the Draft for Gutey

I don't think it's worth it either way but if that's true then trade back our first for Dallas second and a future second (or a third this year), then trade the 2025 second (pick 44) for DK.

Seems like McManus is locked in for the next two years with an out before the 3rd season

Raiders and Panthers have a lot better picks. We'd have to sweeten to top them if it's just draft pick compensation. Panthers don't have a second rounder though.

We have a young capable WR to send back which I don’t believe Carolina, Vegas or New England can beat in an offer. Seattle has 1 NFL caliber WR on that roster now, a solid pick and Wicks or Doubs should outweigh the draft capital any of those teams should be willing to part with. Unless they’re willing to cough up a 1st, plus another decent pick. Then we should be out of the conversation.

If Doubs can get over this concussion thing .. rather keep him over Wicks. Such a reliable catcher in big moments, and catches with his hands, not his body like a lot of other guys do.

I'd much rather keep Wicks over Doubs. He's much better at creating separation, doesn't have concussion issues, and is under contract for an extra year. Plus catching is a an issue many young receivers go through and often are able to correct.

The concussion and attitude issues are my concern with Doubs. I think as a receiver, he's more dependable. He's been a security blanket of sorts for Love for the last couple years. I just don't know if I can trust Wicks.

Obviously some of these options are more exciting than others but yeah, one of these guys needs to end up a Packer.

If the Packers can't swing a trade for DK then I think the best fit for a WR on the Free Agent market is probably Darius Slayton. I think there is some untapped potential there given the QB situation he's dealt with in his career.

I've soured on the DK thing slightly just because of the contract he'll want. Think I'd rather just take a receiver higher in the draft than anticipated. Find another stud in round 2.

I'm with you on DK. The combination of the payout to Seattle up front, and to DK's new contract in back is going to be too high.

I'd rather they upgrade the pass rush first, the CBs next priority, then find a WR. FA, Draft, or even trade is/maybe OK by me
