Zion to Bulls

Post#1 » by pipfan » Tue Mar 25, 2025 6:19 am

Let's say NO gets Flagg and wants to rebuild around him, Murphy, Jones, Missi, Hawkins and future picks/cap space

Collins, Ayo, JCarter (buyout), #11 pick, Port pick, Bulls' 2027 unprotected 1st for Zion?

Probably not enough, but would NO bite?

I don't really love the fit.

Lonzo, Coby, Giddey, Matas, Smith
Ayo, Huerter, PatWill, Collins

I think this team just needs to play youth and look to add a star in FA. I think Davis will eventually want to play for his hometown. Just a hunch.

I thought it made a ton of sense before the Lavine trade as a crazy gamble that might just work out, but Lonzo - Coby - Giddey/Matas/Pat - Zion - Vucevic/Smith is still an interesting fit.

I agree in theory, but is Davis gonna sign for the MLE? Between Coby Giddey and Matas they won't ever have cap space while Davis is still in the NBA.

To me an athletic rim running Center and someone like Lonzo but who plays 80 games a year are the needs this summer, not another scorer.

Have you seen how the Bulls have been playing 8-3 of late, 4-2 which could have been 5-1 west coast road trip when they moved on from DeRozan and finally Lavine? This group doesn't just plug in another big star who needs the ball in his hands and expect that the results to improve. Zion just clogs up the ball movement inside and out and takes away from the excellent team play the Bulls have shown of later. They sure aren't giving up that pick to do it either. Getting a player maybe on the level of Buzelis at #11 added to White, Ball, Giddey and others sets them up for a lot of years making the playoffs, Zion doesn't even lead the NOP there.

I don't see it for the Bulls side. They're not in position to give up draft assets right now, especially for someone who's not a great fit and has major health issues like Zion Williamson. This would have to be a 2026 off season move if the Bulls make the playoffs next year and Williamson can stay mostly healthy.

It's definitely a gamble, but Zion (if healthy) has top 10 upside easily and could flourish next to Giddy

White/Jones
Giddy/Ball
Matas/Phillips
Zion/PWill
Vuc (or Collins, and Vuc is traded)/Smith

I don't like giving up the 2027 pick, but Zion is SUPER talented and productive when he plays

That is one poor shooting team.

Maybe in a year if Zion’s situation doesn’t change. Chicago needs to reset and build some assets, develop youth for a season imo.

I would like the Bulls to be lucky with the prospect they choose, they deserve it for being competitive and trying to win, where other teams in their situation, adulterate the league by losing on purpose... Maluach is the perfect archetype for what they need. In my opinion, I hope they select him and it goes well for them.

Well, in a year the situation (unfortunately) at the Mavs could look bad and AD could be available.
