2024-25 NBA Rookie Discussion Thread (Pt. 4: Who is the ROY?)

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Thu Mar 27, 2025 8:59 pm

We're down to the wire and the previous Rookie polls asked for your top 2 choices. So now it's time to pick the one and only Rookie of the Year!

The poll is limited to 10 options, so everyone can't be in there. It is set up so you can change your vote as often as you'd like.

Go rookies yay!

If there was more time in the season Buzelis would make a serious run but Donovan has brought him along slowly and it's starting to pay off.

Part 4, not bad considering many were underwhelmed in the fall.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

this is going to be one of those weird seasons where the top rookies numbers statistically will be bench players in a few years while the guys doing more in fewer minuntes are going to be around for a while. but the peabrained idiots are going to give it to lou williams again, wait this isn't the sixth man of the year thread? anyways my point is i see a bunch of inconsequential players putting up numbers. then again I said the same for virtuosos like Glen Davis.

It's obviously Castle. I know people are gonna come in here and just vote for their teams rookie or their favorite player but there is really no argument for anyone other than Castle at this point.

That's not to project anything into the future, just that he has had the best rookie season and it's very clear at this point. I think other players are higher ceilings and will be better in the future but ROY race is over, and it has been over for a while

Castle is my vote. He realy impressed me but I like how Sarr and Risacher improved over the last month or so. Still some games left for them to end the year on a high note, but should be Castle's to lose.
Cheers

I can barely identify half the players on that list. Really underwhelming draft class so far.

Buzelis isn’t going to win ROY because he was on such a tight leash but he has the highest potential out this draft clash. He’s also producing now.

28 points
9 rebounds
6 assists

Kel'el Ware with a double double in 4 of his last 6 games, generally he's very efficient as well. Would like to see Spo give him some more shots tbh.

Speaking of Edey, it's pretty astounding how well he's doing at offensive rebounding. I get that he's 7.4, but (before tonight at least) his offensive rebound percentage is 18.3%, if he played enough to qualify that would be by far the best in the league (the highest qualified is Walker Kessler at 16.7%). He and JJJ seem like a pretty solid fit, his rebounding making up for JJJ's lack and JJJ being able to cover his weaknesses on defense.

Ware has been averaging a double-double since he's gotten consistent minutes. He will be double-double machine next season.
