ORL/MIL - Giannis to Magic
Milwaukee trades:
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Orlando trades:
Paolo Banchero
Jalen Suggs
#16
Why for Milwaukee? A full rebuild would be tough to swallow with their draft pick obligations, they decide to rebuild around Banchero.
Why for Orlando? They go in on potential championship combination of Giannis and Wagner, and Giannis being sold on playing on good team in Florida.

Re: ORL/MIL - Giannis to Magic
The problem with a lot of teams trading for Giannis is what do they have left after this?
Cole Anthony
KCP
Wagner
Giannis
WCJ
That team is better than what he has now maybe? But it's not a contender. And now you are in a similar situation where you have to add pieces and struggling to find who.
Rockets, Spurs, OKC seem like the best positioned teams to go after him. Unless he decides to head to Brooklyn and then recruit stars to join him.

I think it''s fine, 2nd star, role players who know how to play D, they have all their picks.

Re: ORL/MIL - Giannis to Magic
if you can get Giannis for Banchero you obviously do that and then make additions around that. No chance of passing up the chance to get an MVP level player under contract in his prime this cheap.
It never ceases to amaze me how little some of you value MVP level players despite all but a handful of titles the last 50 years requiring one to win it. If you do not have this guy, you need incredible depth of the kind its nearly impossible to get in the 2nd apron era, so if someone wants to gift you one, you should take them up on it quickly.

They could move Goga, JI and Cole for better roster fits.
Cole + filler + #24 for Simons + Reath.
Goga + Howard for Grayson.
MLE or BAE to one of the Jones brothers
G - Anfernee Simons / Tyus or Tre Jones / Tyrese Proctor (#46)
G - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope / Grayson Allen
F - Franz Wagner / Anthony Black / Jonathan Isaac
F - Giannis / Mo Wagner / Jonathan Isaac
C - Wendell Carter JR / Giannis / Duop Reath
I see a contender.

I do think Orlando does the OP. And do see Orlando would easily be able to go find a point guard and some more shooters for their bench. That’s all they would need..
But I would at least try to keep Suggs. Include KCP and Black and whatever other salary/prospect with 3-4 extra firsts? 3-4 firsts because I think the OP is already short.

Considering Lillard is out now, its a better situation. But Milwaukee hasn't been winning with Lillard.
Lillard, Lopez, Portis vs KCP, WCJ, Wagner
I'm not sure its some massive shift. Neither of these teams are contending. He gets Wagner which is a great #2 to start with.
There 100% needs to be more moves around this, and without knowing Giannis is going to commit to Orlando, I wouldn't feel great about it. Orlando is one of those teams than can become a contender internally with a few more moves imo.

Orlando owes more than this.
Also, I think another team will beat this offer.

Re: ORL/MIL - Giannis to Magic
Replace Jalen Suggs with Anthony Black and another pick or two and I could see the Magic saying yes. The Magic would still need a ball handler who can shoot after they get Giannis. Maybe this is when they use Gary Harris + other filler and a future 1st round pick or the Nuggets pick this year to get after someone like Colin Sexton or Anfernee Simons or if they were willing to use up their rest of their assets, then maybe Coby White.

Re: ORL/MIL - Giannis to Magic
I think Orlando would need to keep Suggs and find a way to put a good offensive guard next to him. Still, if Mil is high on Paolo then a deal with him + (some of KCP/Anthony/Goga etc as salary filler) + #16 + future 1st + maybe Black is a credible offer. Paolo is probably the best established but still young player that Mil could get back in such a deal so it wouldn't need a lot of additional incentives (leaving some incentives to add the needed offensive guard.
A White (or equivalent)/Suggs/Wagner/Giannis/WCJ starting 5 with a few bench guys capable of playoff rotation minutes is a title contender for a few years. Will get pretty expensive though.

Optically, I don't see Orlando doing this, though there is an argument that they should. More likely is a deal based around Wagner and Suggs and a bunch of picks.

with Suggs and Banchero gone, the only good player left is Wagner.

I'd Banchero and KCP ++, not Suggs as an add on.

There's no realistic path to capture full trade value when moving a top 5 player. None. You're never getting full trade value for someone like Giannis or Jokic unless you're acquiring another top 5 player. Not even close. Maybe 50 cents on the dollar if the stars align. A collection of picks, prospects and players will never equate a top 5 player. It's not like football or baseball or hockey. The value an NBA superstar brings can't be made up in a collection of lesser pieces.
Show me 1 example of a top 5 player getting full trade value.

yes, thank you. I understand that.
But I am speaking to those acting like the Bucks should turn down this gift. They should not. You are only solidifying my point lol.

I'm skeptical that this offer gets beat. I'd need to hear the specific name of the player on a rookie deal who's better than Paolo who is likely to be offered.
