*All Eyez On Trajan Thread*

Post#1 » by tradez401 » Fri May 2, 2025 12:25 pm

Now that the post-season is over I wanted to make this thread all about Trajan who did an amazing job this season. From here on out lets post all Trajan's interviews, off-season acquisitions etc.

Hardest thing is, we exceeded expectation so much and then also I was surprised at how Langdon didn't go out and trade away a bunch of Weaver pieces... the patience he showed with the core that was already in place instead of just feeling like he needed to do a hard reset was huge. He gets an A+ for coaching hire and culture shift but the real question will be whether or not that success leads him to have a slow and steady offseason this summer instead of making a bigger splash.

Yeah, really interesting to see where he goes from here. This season was all gravy and upside. Now the real pressure begins. Ultimately I think we go as Cade goes, though. If he keeps raising his level of play, we'll keep getting better.

Cade jumping into that all-nba range is huge. Not just for the on court production, but he's rapidly gained a reputation among other players. It's no longer a pipe dream that some really good players would join the team in free agency or sign and trades. Obviously, we aren't a destination city overall, but Cade is turning into the type of player that other guys want to play with.

If he does make it, we have almost 10 million less cap-wise.

Cade will be All NBA, so we can comfortably operate under the assumption of the impact that will have on his cap figure.

And it's good. If he hadn't taken a leap big enough for voters to take notice we wouldn't be in this position. It's worth the extra money.

Heck, he might even make the All-NBA second team. But I think third is the minimum.

Impressive how Trajan turned us around so much without making true wholesale changes from the core of last year.

Now it's a slightly tricky spot where you have a group of guys that have developed a great culture but you also need to look to upgrade if you want to progress as a team. I think we need to move on from THJ. Even though I love Tobias, if the right trade comes along you pull the trigger. Despite Beasley's playoff struggles I think he's still an important piece, and keeping Schroder as our backup PG would be great. Fontecchio is unfortunately a negative contract now so will be harder to move without attaching an asset or two.

Interested to see how Trajan approaches this off-season. Will be the difference between battling for the play-in next year vs catapulting ourselves into the top 4 in the East.

No longer playing with house money. I’m ecstatic to be in this position, but now, there’s expectations. I look forward to the ride

He had a terrific off season last year, all of his signings paid dividends.

I am hoping for patience. No need to make any drastic moves unless a can't-miss opportunity comes along. Re-sign some of our vets and let's see what we have with this group fully healthy.

Of all the potential awards Pistons personnel could've won, I felt like Trajan winning exec of the year was the most likely. Maybe it really is Detroit vs everybody.

He's going to be pretty close, https://nbarankings.theringer.com/ neutral site has him 15 right now.

Trajan Landon, really didn't do much, this was sort of an observation year for him I think. Bickerstaff over Williams made a big difference, but any new GM probably would have went that way, T Harris was coming here no matter what, trading for THJ was neutral to negative (Grimes had a good year, his free agent value is high), Beasley was a late signing for a bargain, the rest are Weaver left overs. So what I'm getting at, is that we need to see what he does moving forward, he got Cade some reliable players, Cade stayed healthy and improved. No Picks this year really sucks though, so can't watch that.

Come on, “didnt do much”?? Give the guy some credit.

Beasley signing alone could’ve won him the award. Second most 3s in the league and we got him for nothing. His swagger changed the teams chemistry.

Shroder at the deadline was a massive under the radar move.

Grimes wanted out, and THJ has his flaws but was also huge in giving Cade a mentor and the spacing he needs.

Cade improved because of the players Trajan surrounded him with.

Trajan presser from today --- he's got a case of the Troy Weaver "um"s here.

This probably the most spicy I've seen him get...regardless, we are in good hands.

Trajan was impressive. He's articulate and conveys his high BB IQ. He draws on a wealth of experience and clearly knows what works and what doesn't. I give him credit for the team's success this year and fully expect he will position the team over the summer for continued success next season. Trajan has put an end to Pistons' malaise and mediocrity.

I feel really comfortable with the offseason approach after watching the press conference.

He doesn’t seem like he has any interest in a knee-jerk trade to speed up the timeline.

I’m actually an excellent public speaker — it’s been a big part of my job for decades, lots of practice, and I enjoy it. Trajan’s good, not great, but so much better than Weaver that it feels great. Too many distracting gestures and umms, but still good.

And the reason he’s still good is something I’m very jealous of — he exudes calmness, especially in his voice. The things he says are naturally believable because he says them in a reassuring way. And when he doesn’t want to answer a question (like ‘what are your targets going to be in free agency?’), he deftly deflects without rejecting the questioner. Good stuff.

As for the team, he didn’t give much away, which I’m good with. Let’s see how it proceeds.

Who was more calm today, Langdon or Jerome Powell?
