Chat GPT's Best Offensive Team

Post#1 » by GeorgeMarcus » Thu May 8, 2025 6:53 pm

I asked it to form the best offensive 8-man rotation under modern NBA rules. The result:

Starters:
Jokic
Bird
Durant
MJ
Curry

Bench:
Nowitzki
Luka
Magic

Oscar, Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Barkley, West, the Malones, and LeBron are among the most notable omissions. There is a clear lack of emphasis on rim running, which I find interesting given the level of playmaking that could utilize such a skillset.

I know I have absolutely no proof but I thought of the exact same starters strictly for offense.

I looked at it as having a more fluid, non-heliocentric offense. Therefore, guys like Lebron and Magic don't make the cut. I don't know about the bench though. Bird is probably the best off-ball player in history, with 3-level range and elite passing. KD was in contention (minus the passing), so why not have them team up? Steph is your GOAT shooter, MJ the midrange and slashing, and Jokic is the most efficient offensive center we've ever seen. Not a bad lineup.

Except for the LeBron omission, this is a nice team.

Same issue of guys not necessarily making great bench players. Greatest bench starters would probably be Manu, McHale, and maybe a guy like Kukoc or Schrempf.
