Flagg, Harper, Bailey, Edgecombe, Fears Go 1-5 In ESPN's First Post-Lottery Mock Draft

The Dallas Mavericks won the 2025 NBA draft lottery Monday, shocking the basketball world by converting their minuscule 1.8% odds to secure the No. 1 pick. The Mavs now have the inside track to select Duke freshman Cooper Flagg, widely regarded as the consensus top player in this draft class.

San Antonio jumped from their projected eighth spot to secure the No. 2 pick despite just 6.3% odds, while Philadelphia moved up to third from fifth with 10.6% odds. The Charlotte Hornets, originally slotted third, dropped one position to No. 4.

Flagg, who is in Chicago this week for the NBA draft combine, expressed excitement about his NBA journey following the lottery results. The 18-year-old forward had a stellar freshman season at Duke that ranks among the best in the one-and-done era.

Lottery Dramatically Reshapes Draft Order

The lottery results created significant movement throughout the top selections. The Utah Jazz, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans were the biggest losers, all sliding outside the top four despite entering with better odds.

For Dallas, landing the top pick represents a transformative opportunity after trading superstar Luka Doncic last season. The Mavericks can now pair Flagg with veterans Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving, potentially extending their championship window.

The two-day NBA draft will take place June 25-26 in Brooklyn, with approximately 120 prospects participating in this week's combine activities in Chicago, including measurements, athletic testing, team interviews and 5-on-5 scrimmages.
