Giannis Yes or No?

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Wed May 14, 2025 3:31 pm

Giannis for Jalen Johnson and picks...... easy yes

Giannis for Jalen, Zac, and picks...... i would say no

However, i wouldn't be upset if either trade went down.

How deep should the Hawks go in on a Giannis trade?

I'd consider a trade package built around Jalen + Zach + Kobe + #13 for Giannis.

This lineup would be top-3 in the East next season.
Probably not good enough to win a title, though.

C - Okongwu
PF - Giannis
SF - Vet Role Player
SG - Dyson
PG - Trae

Is Zac the next Tatum, which is a 1st All NBA team selection?

Or is he going to be another Brandon Ingram, Bradley Beal, good stats, a few all stars, but not elite and not a true #1?

Or is Zac just going to be another RJ Barrett, Kuminga, Jabari Smith, which is a solid starter, will have a long career but nothing special?

After one season of Zac, you are going to have to figure out if he is going to be that guy before you add him to any Giannis trade.

Zac needs to stay put.

OO, Jalen, 13th pick, 22nd pick, and 2029 first. Milwaukee doesn't have control of their own first round pick until the 2031 draft. After the upcoming draft we wont have control of our next first round pick until 2029.

Zac and Dyson Daniels are the keepers on the team. Milwaukee may want both and not OO or Jalen Johnson. We will need to give up multiple first so Milwaukee can rebuild.

I have a feeling the cost will end up being counter productive. You are talking about needing, more than likely, two of Dyson/Risacher/JJ (maybe OO is in there, but I feel a greater push would be for 2 of the other ones). Then, it will likely cost between 3-4 future firsts.

Sure
The Suns issue was the Beal trade that handcuffed them. Should have stopped with the KD trade.

I see:

  • A meddlesome owner with no patience
  • A team built around a flawed, offensive guard who can't carry the team alone
  • A solid core of undersized Forwards who perfectly complement their All Star Guard

Who am I describing?

2024 Suns or 2025 Hawks

Before this season: 51, 64, 45, 49 wins, 4 straight playoffs, 1 finals, 2 semifinals, 1 1st round....closer to competing that we've been, took a big chance to win....not the Hawks!

I stand by my assertion.

Trading Jalen + Zacch + draft capital for an injury prone ALL NBA Forward in his 30s has a legit chance to leave us without depth or trade assets in the short term. Just like when the Suns traded away Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson + draft capital last summer.

The 2021, 2022 and 2023 seasons...don't really play into the calculus for me. :dontknow:

I'm a big fan of GA, but I am hesitant because his skill set, doesn't age well. Shaq took a significant hit when he turned 31 and then was a role player by 34

And they are also saying Giannis wants to exit to a Eastern Conf team, with the Raptors as a good option which can offer the best package (Barnes or Ingram, picks and Poetl).
It would be fantastic to get Giannis and I believe our package of assets could be enticing to the Bucks.

I'm in favor of being aggressive for an in-prime star player next to Trae.

But it has to be the right move.

Mortgaging the future just to lose in the Conference Finals the next 2 seasons...is not as enticing as it sounds.

The thing with Giannis is that he forces the team to have a shooting center because of his lack of three point shooting...
That would make OO unavailable in any trade talk.
So Risacher and JJ, sadly, should be the players to move.
I do not know whether it is worth it. JJ and Risacher could have a lot of future and these PO are showing that depth is needed if you want to advance, although also the Knicks and Nuggets are showing that you can win with just 3 bench players (who are not a big deal either).

Amick: Bucks GM going for blood in Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions

Sam Amick: You know what I mean? Like, they want every scenario to gut the other team. And Jon Horst is going to go for blood here, I’m telling you. He just got a new extension. He has the organization’s backing. Jon is not going to just try to be on good terms with Giannis—he’s trying to do right by the Bucks. And that means that if every scenario in play leaves the other team so gutted that Giannis might not actually be in that much better of a situation, then maybe that’s where he looks at the room and says, “All right, let me stay put.”

Jon Horst, Trade, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks

Logan Murdock: It doesn’t seem, at this point, that the Golden State Warriors are in the Giannis sweepstakes. I don’t think they will be— not because they don’t want to—but more so because they just don’t have the assets to get him. There was a big brouhaha—you wrote about it, I wrote about it—about Giannis and Steph hanging out at the All-Star Game. From what I heard—and I’m sure you heard the same thing—there was a feeling that Giannis was very, very intrigued by the idea of one day being a teammate of Steph Curry. There was at least a sense from league officials that Giannis wanted to play with Steph in the very near future. That was the impression many people got during that soirée. – via YouTube
