Wiz/Houston: 6 for 10+2027 Nets swap rights

Post#1 » by mhd » Wed May 14, 2025 10:22 pm

Simple deal:

Wiz like no one at 6 assuming (Flagg, Harper, VJ, Bailey, and Johnson are all gone). Houston trades up to get Maulach (knowing he won't drop to 10). Wiz get a free lotto ticket in Nets swap rights in 2027 (even though both teams currently are horrendous).

We already have an overload of youth, I see little chance we trade up, unless its for two.

Maybe if the absolutely love someone at 6, they could dangle Whitmore as incentive for the jump.

The Nets swap looks gold right now, so would not offer it in any deal, unless its a star.

Not giving up that 2027 swap cheaply.
Don’t want Maulach. Easier and more efficient to keep Adams or other aging big to backup Sengun.

Agree we only try to move up for a top two pick. Probably move ours.

Whitmore doesn't get you from 10 to 6.

I don't agree about "easier". There will be a few promising center prospects on the board at #10 who would be worth the pick for Houston.

I think Houston would be better served utilizing someone over a pick if they want to move up.

That Nets swap is too valuable. Whoever gets drafted has an 80% chance of getting red shirted their rookie season.

I don't think it's get you from #10 to #9.

Not impressed by Maulach. Too raw.

Better off with older guys as backup center. Adams, maybe Capela etc.

If you're drafting Maluauch it's because you don't see him as a backup caliber center long term. If his shooting upside is real (many say so, I haven't seen any proof but teams could) then he's going to be long gone at 10 and for good reason. Still, there will be good players that fit at 10, so I wouldn't give up that swap either if I were the Rockets.
