Banner 19 Interrupted! R2G6 Loss vs NYK 5/16 (NYK wins 4-2)

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Sat May 17, 2025 2:37 am

Well hell you guys that wasn't the most pleasant final game of the season yikes!

I could carry on about what went wrong tonight but basically we played at a less than ideal level and did not win the big game. Kinda goes for the whole series actually. Unsmileyface emoji!

...
So I had a lot of fun in our quest to repeat this season! I mean, until it all fell apart at the end lol. But our trophy from last year is still all shiny, JT is going to come back strong, I trust Brad and the front office to make the right moves, and I know we've got more fun coming our way. Your Boston Celtics will be back!

And of course it'll be blast riding the rollercoaster with you guys! Thanks for hanging out this season and best wishes to you and your loved ones.

LET'S GO CELTICS!!

Thank you everyone (the Boston Celtics and my Celtics brethren here) for two great years. We had the chance to witness and enjoy something special.

Extra thanks to Parl & bisme for another season of GTs and PGTs.

In Brad I trust.

I will try to be civil tonight. And thank bisme37 and Parl for their work. It's been a very long season, in my opinion. Sad it had to end this way.. Good night until next time.
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

Probably the most depressing finish to a season since that loss to Miami in 2012 and knowing that KG etc weren’t good enough anymore.

Not that this team couldn’t get it done when healthy but we just won’t see them in that state again due to the CBA and Tatum’s Achilles.

Sucks major balls to build such a stacked team with great drafting and trading and essentially only see them healthy for five minutes in 2024 and then to be punished for it by this stupid CBA.

I will forever be grateful for the 2024 title. That was one of my favourite ever sports memories.

Good season, tough way to end. JT injury makes it even worse.

Thanks for all you do Bisme and Parl

Of course we all wanted to see a repeat but man what a sad way to end the season. Just 2 weeks ago things were looking pretty good and then the 2 disappointing home games came quick and the final blow was Tatum’s major injury. Gonna have to brace for a mediocre season next year after years of championship expectations.

Thanks for the memories Jrue and KP. At the end of the day, so many teams would kill for 1 championship and they helped bring us one.

Coaching really needs to be addressed this off season, we need to switch some of the philosophy aside from setting record of three point shot attempts. Roster needs more balance of 1 on 1 scorers, rebounding, and hustle players.

This isn't anything ground breaking but just goes to show you the regular season doesn't matter. You can do everything right with load management and all of a sudden in April your all-star forward gets knee pain, your center develops a mysterious illness, your PG injures his hammy in the second game of the postseason, and your 27 year old superstar tears his achilles.

That team that played the Knicks looked nothing like the previous 85 games...just a huge bummer. At least we'll always have 2024

I hope this results in some major changes. Either get better bigs that Mazzulla likes and will use or get a new coach.
Edit: Extend Mazzulla

That Orlando series was a sign of things to come really.

Always a shocking sign when your best player gets injured in game 1 of the playoffs.

Reminds me of when Steph went down for the Warriors in 2016.

Of course didn’t see the Achilles rupture coming but just felt like we were going to run into trouble at some point.

Probably thought it would come against Cleveland. Indiana or OKC though. Not this Knicks team.

Start with a real point guard in the draft that can control the pace of the game and direct the offense. Play that draft point guard 25-30 mpg all next year

This was inevitable after we lost the 2 home games and losing JT just cemented it. For anyone that seriously thought we were going to still win the series, bless your delusional hearts. I say that with love.

They quit on Mazzulla, just like they quit on Fitch in 1983.
