Al Horford Will Take Time With Family Before Deciding On Future

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat May 17, 2025 8:00 pm

Boston Celtics big man Al Horford is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. After previously saying he didn't plan to retire, Horford said at this exit interview that "it's too soon" to talk about his future.

The veteran center said he'd take some time with his wife and kids to talk about his future. Horford added that there's "still a lot for me to process" in the wake of the Celtics season coming to an earlier than expected end.

Horford spent three seasons with the Celtics from 2016 through 2019. He then left for a big contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, but was traded after one season. After being moved from the Sixers in a salary clearing deal, Horford spent a half-season with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Boston reacquired Horford in 2021, then signed him to an extension shortly thereafter. The veteran big man has played a key roll for the Celtics for the last four seasons.

Love this dude. If he's still got juice left in the tank I'd love him back on the Celtics. Probably crushing for him he wasn't able to acquire another ring. I'm assuming he will wait to see what inevitable trades Boston will have to make and then decide if his legacy can grow with one more year or falter. Either way he's been a solid player his whole career and is pretty under rated and under discussed.
