Greg Vanney, Galaxy Sign Richest MLS Contract For Manager

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun May 18, 2025 1:39 am

The LA Galaxy have agreed to a contract extension with Greg Vanney despite their 0-10-3 start to the season. Vanney will sign a three-year deal through 2028 that will make him the highest paid coach without a dual sporting director title.

In his career, Vanney has won more than 140 regular season games and led his team to four MLS Cup appearances (2016, 2017, 2019, 2024) with wins in 2017 with Toronto FC and last year with the Galaxy.

The Galaxy have started this season without star Riqui Puig, who tore his ACL last year in the Western Conference final.

“Greg is one of the most respected and successful coaches in MLS history, and we are excited to be continuing under his leadership,” LA Galaxy general manager Will Kuntz said in a statement. “While this season’s results haven’t reflected our standards, this was a decision made following our 2024 MLS Cup victory and we remain confident in the project we are building with Greg and we have a clear path forward to returning to an MLS champion level. Greg’s commitment to development, culture, and high standards is unwavering.”
