David Adelman Is Strong Contender To Remain Nuggets Coach

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Mon May 19, 2025 12:52 pm

The Denver Nuggets season didn't end as they hoped for, with a Game 7 loss in the second round to the Oklahoma City Thunder. However, the Nuggets played well enough that interim head coach David Adelman is now a strong contender to get that role on a permanent basis.

Nuggets governor Josh Kroenke didn't address the spot permanently, but told ESPN how proud he was of his team.

"Outside of the championship, this is the most proud I've been because these guys have really rallied," Kroenke said.

Kroenke made the decision in late in the regular season to dismiss head coach Michael Malone and general manager Calvin Booth. Adelman took over for Malone, while Ben Tenzer took over as interim GM.

Adelman received the backing of several players to take over as the permanent head coach. Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon all praised the interim head coach for his work in a difficult situation, taking over right before the playoffs.

Kinda makes sense.

If Denver doesn't find a legit grade A coach, why not. Adelman had only Jokic, Aaron and CB on his roster and Murray, MPJ played against the team. And he still managed to drag Okc (probable NBA 2025 champs) to 7 games.
