MIA/POR/NOP
I had the idea that since those future MIL swaps on the Pels Picks in 26 and 27 could be some of the best ammo for Giannis (as well as POR's in 29 & 30 i think), and the Pelicans are unlikely to negotiate for him , and MIL may not trade soon or want Herro if they do, that MIA could trade for those to use as good leverage whenever it should go down, or just sign him in FA anyway if he walks and still be invested the Pels picks with the rights to swap with Milwaukee. We'd be getting more 1sts over 2 with potential, including #20 this year. I had us taking on contracts i assume the Blazer won't want to resign, and saving 20mil for FA now, and giving us #11 for it essentially. They're also get to keep their own MIL swaps and still trade with MIA. Pels would make 3 1st round selections this year and kick the tires on some veterans and see what all sticks.
Blazers: Tyler Herro, Dejounte Murray, Nikola Jovic, Kelly Olynyk, Duncan Robinson
Heat: 26 Pels 1st w/ MIL swap rights, 27 Pels 1st w/ MIL swap rights, CJ McCollum, Shaedon Sharpe, Jordan Hawkins, Elfrid Payton
Pelicans: Blazers #11, Heat #20, 29 MIA 1st, 31 MIA 1st, 26 MIA 2nd (MEM has swaps on it) Jerami Grant, Deandre Ayton, Anfernee Simons
Would these teams do this and is it fair value?

Pass for POR.
Would rather keep SS and a lotto pick and take our chances finding a star than that.

Re: MIA/POR/NOP
I do this for Portland. Losing Sharpe hurts. But there is no doubt that Murray (he’s expected to return to 100% right?) and Herro is an upgrade for Portland’s guard position at least for now.

It was a torn Achilles. I don't think many people come back 100% from that.
After that, it's basically 11,Sharpe, simons for Herro and jovic.

Agreed... but Achilles tear slows everybody down dramatically they're not a lot of Kevin Durant in the world who didn't lise as much as most

This is just way too big. I don't even really understand what any of the teams actually accomplish here. Maybe narrow your focus a bit?

Like cucad8 said, its basically #11, Shaedon & Simons for Tyler Herro and 20 million cap space now for free agency and a lot more in future years for the Blazers. And if Dejounte comes back you have a good vet leader PG. Jovic, Olynyk and Duncan can provide good spot minutes.
Miami gets Shaedon and those Pelicans picks with the right to swap Milwaukee just to trade towards Giannis along with Jaquez or whatever else, because those picks are more valueable than there own either way, and are particulary enticing to MIL specifically.
The Pelicans get 2 extra 1sts this year, 2 big expiring contracts to try out, and 2 future MIA 1sts, which won't be as good, and they are taking on a bad contract, but they get a solid shakeup without trading Zion, Herb, Murphy or Missi without really committing to anything

Well damn. Then I’d need to see Murray on the court again to be on board, but by that time the value of who we get at 11 will be different.

Im thinking POR should be getting back #20 here actually, probably more fair, and they could take Tahaad Pettiford PG Auburn and then just try and rehab Dejounte's trade value while trying him out when he comes back. If he comes 100% then great, but even if not he could still be easier to move than Grant as soon as he looks alright

This is so big that it's impossible to accurately assess value. Simplify things.
It's also illegal due to the Stepien Rule. New Orleans isn't guaranteed a 2026 or 2027 1st after this.

I'm thinking when a deal gets this convoluted you need to go back to the drawing board.

Re: MIA/POR/NOP
Its a lot, but i think there almost has to be a 3 team trade involving Miami somehow and those Pelicans Milwaukee picks somehow, either inlvoving or as a preliminary to a Giannis trade. And I was thinking about who might take Herro if MIL wouldnt wan't him. I was trying to think it anyway; may look convoluted or just bad but its not without logic applied. Good call on Stepien.

Pelicans need those picks sooner rather later. They have young core of Zion/Murphy/Herb/Missi and that young core will be old at the time those miami picks come in. I would like to get rid of Murray but i would rather keep those milwaukee picks/swaps.

Re: MIA/POR/NOP
Yeah I don’t think this trade makes sense for the Pels. Like we are giving the best assets for the worst players. I like the length addition of trading CJ for Grant but although I like the idea of Zion being the main ball handler it puts a lot of pressure on him without putting a secondary ball handler out there. And losing the picks isn’t it worth it just to get off Dejounte’s contract. If we trade the picks it will need to be a for a clear talent upgrade.
Like either we are trying to build around Zion or we are stashing assets to build for the future and this trade kind of does neither. Those later year Miami pics have little value now. We basically take picks that we sat on waiting to become valuable, annd now they are valuable, we trade them for less valuable later picks without a lot of value for it.

Re: MIA/POR/NOP
We're not doing this unless we know that Giannis wants Miami, obviously, but I gotta say, as someone who wouldn't mind tearing it down, my only issue with this is the inclusion of Jovic. If we miss out on Giannis, we're in full-on rebuild mode. And we'd have young talent and picks to do it with, but Jovic should stay. I'd offer up the 20th pick and filter to replace him, personally

This is just the trauma talking probably but im personally over *potential* value on any asset; it's more often used as a selling point so that people who haven't necessarily done anything to get to keep their job and keep trying. Felt like it was David Griffin's M.O. to only aquire picks with potential, and be invested in other teams swap rights, and just to try and squeeze value out of every negotiation instead of committing to anything. None of the Lakers swaps conveyed, and i i know if we trade the MIL ones theyll probably be good, but i just promise if we keep them theyll keep Giannis and won't be worse than we are haha, and we'll get the 11th pick or something anyway, and won't have done anything for 2 years leading up because of the big hopes on the imaginary thingy. I'll take a hard asset now just to see if i can make something shake. I'd draft ready now players too, and i like the middle 1st round of this draft a lot

Hopefully Dumars' M.O. is still opposite Griffin's where he can trade all that Griff snake oil and pull a player out.

Trash deal for Portland. You can have Simons for Herro or F off

Lol! Wow, with incentive like that...
No, we're not making that nonsensical trade. I understand not liking the deal because of Murray's injury. I wouldn't want that deal either in your shoes. But maybe tone down the hyperbole.
