Kings and Cavs 1 for 1
JV
for
Okoro
I think the Cavs owe the Kings a 2nd here, but not going to argue about it. Kings can also send out a min contract with cash to a 3rd team if they don't want to get hardcapped, but not sure it matters? Cavs shed a tiny bit of salary so they are cool.
Cavs get a backup center they need
Kings get a wing defender they need

I like this a lot but think the Cavs need to at least have some contingency plan for wing defense when Hunter misses his annual 20+ games. i do think Okoro is pretty easily replaced though
investigate Adam Silver

This is the kind of unsexy but smart deal that I wish we saw more of tbh (rather than the 10,000th Giannis to my favorite team for table scraps proposal)

scratches Giannis to Dallas OP.....

I'm mostly with you. I mean the big sexy deals with the stars are always the most popular threads. And my little stuff gets two or three responses and disappears into the void. But I like finding one small need and trying to fill it. Others can find world peace, I'm just trying to figure out what to have for dinner.

Nice and tidy, I like it. Occam's Razor for the win.
"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world...
... NO, YOU MOVE."
... NO, YOU MOVE."

Re: Kings and Cavs 1 for 1
This is my least favorite Okoro for a backup center option. My primary concern is I'm not sure how playable JV is in the playoffs. I might get there by the deadline if nothing better materializes, but the Cavs should be able to get back at least a second or two.
The Cavs drafted Diop in the second round a couple years ago and he's been developing in the Spanish league. It might be time to bring him over and have look.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

Averages 26 mpg in the playoffs for his career so clearly his teams have trusted him. Don't expect that big of a playoff role in Cleveland of course.
But yeah if you have a cheap option you feel is ready to contribute bring him.
And Okoro feels less playable regular season or playoffs so not sure why Cleveland would be getting the 2nds, but I'll just Hartford Whalers it and say of course your team gets the 2nds lol.

Two years ago he averaged 22 mpg against OKC as the Pelicans starter. The Pelicans didn't bother bringing him back afterwards. Not even as a backup despite having no other center on the roster.
As far as Okoro, Toooskie will love to give you all his advanced stats, including in the playoffs, and tell you how underrated he is. I'm not a huge fan, but he is a solid defender, he just turned 24 in January, and he makes less than the MLE.
JV is well past his sell by date, and if not there yet, is trending towards unplayable on the defensive end, especially in the playoffs.

I’d do it for the Cavs.

Saw the bat-signal, so here goes!
Okoro led the Cavs’ rotation players in on/off in both the regular season and the playoffs. A low-usage POA defender who hits open threes is a perfect complement to the other four starters who all deserve high usage.
But after watching JBB go away from him and then Atkinson go away from him, I’m fine with sending him elsewhere and could even understand a pure salary dump. JV is fine for Mitchell Robinson insurance next year, I guess.

I think i'd be fine with it for CLE. JV is the type of guy CLE needs backing up Mobley and Allen, when the game starts getting ultra physical in the playoffs. Can't be the only thing CLE does, but can be part of the solution.

SImple enough where both teams get a better fitting piece, makes sense
