Regular season averages: 21.8 PPG, 11.8 RPG, 1.8 APG, 2.0 SPG, 1.7 BPG
Playoffs averages: 20.4 PPG, 11.7 RPG, 1.6 APG, 1.9 SPG, 1.2 BPG
- NBA All-Star
- All-NBA Third Team
- 10th in MVP voting
- 7th in DPOY voting
- 3rd in NBA in total rebounds
- 3rd in NBA in total steals
- 3rd in NBA in defensive win shares
Overall, I would label Marion as the most underrated/overlooked defender in NBA history. The fact that he never made a single All-Defensive Team is absolutely crazy. He truly was ahead of his time in that aspect of the game because of his elite versatility and switchability. He was absolutely tailor made for the modern game on the defensive end of the floor. His natural athleticism was also off the charts. Where do you think he would rank in the current NBA as a complete player?
