LAL/MIN/UTA/PHI

Post#1 » by kds92 » Sat May 24, 2025 3:35 pm

Combining a new idea for playoff teams with the old idea of getting the Jazz up to #3 in the draft.

LAL In: Kessler, DiVincenzo
LAL Out: Reaves, Knecht, 2031 1st (top 4 protected)

MIN In: Reaves
MIN Out: DiVincenzo, Filler, #17

UTA In: PG, #3
UTA Out: Lauri, Kessler, 2027 LAL 1st

PHI In: Lauri, Knecht, MIN Filler, #17, 2027 LAL 1st (now unprotected), 2031 LAL 1st (top 4 protected)
PHI Out: PG, #3

WHY?

Lakers get a young center and 3&D guard. Probably will need to get a true backup point guard after this.

Wolves get a playmaker to pair with Ant. This deal assumes they can aggregate and re-sign Naz & NAW this summer. Don't think they need Donte & NAW. It's a little risky since Reaves needs to get paid next summer.

Jazz target the top of this year's draft to start building their team since they don't really have a prospect with true star potential right now. They cash out on Kessler before he gets paid and keep the rest of their young guys/picks.

Sixers get off PG's deal for a younger Lauri, who they hope plays a lot better with a good PG like Maxey. They move down 14 spots in this draft, but also get a couple future firsts. They probably only do this if they don't believe in anyone outside the top 2.

Absolutely a non-starter for Utah.

Why would that be a non-starter for Utah?

The Frp and Kessler are treated as throw-ins. The Lauri for #3 and eating albatross PG13 is a fair starting point. And I'm no fan of Lauri

I would strongly consider this. 3 and 5 in this year's draft is a great start to a rebuild.

Lakers shouldn't add the 1st, maybe if Sexton for Kleber/Vando is added.

Utah doesn’t need to add a first.

I don’t see the Sixers moving down to 17thats just out of the question. Morey is on the hot seat. This looks like a reason to fire him. Sixers won’t win anything and no hope for the future. Bailey, won’t make them much better but there is hope he can learn. Hope could save Morey’s job.

Utah declines and deals directly with Philly. There is not need to have LA involved in a deal for Lauri and PG. This is just a round about way for LA to try and get Walker which has been beaten to death on this board and it’s not happening for the low price LA fans desire.

No, no, no. Lauri for 3 and PG Utah still owes significantly.

Whether you need both Kessler and the Laker 27 pick is a debatable point.

I was gonna suggest to increase the protections. Lottery maybe.

Kessler equal to Knecht, #17, LAL31FRP(top 4), unprotecting LAL27FRP
Reaves equal to DDV, #17

This is an overvaluation of Kessler and undervaluation of Reaves.

I think it should be fixed to this:

LAL In: Kessler, DiVincenzo
LAL Out: Reaves, Knecht[/i]

MIN In: Reaves
MIN Out: DiVincenzo, #17, unprotect MIN29FRP(top 4)

UTA In: PG, #3
UTA Out: Lauri, Kessler, MIN29FRP(top 4)

PHI In: Lauri, Knecht, #17, MIN29FRP(unprotected)[/i]
PHI Out: PG, #3

See no reason for Minnesota to be involved in this trade.

Was thinking that too. Change OP to:

LAL In: Kessler
LAL Out: Knecht, unprotect 2027 LAL 1st, 2031 1st (uprotected)

UTA In: PG, #3
UTA Out: Lauri, Kessler, 2027 LAL 1st (top 4 protected)

PHI In: Lauri, Knecht, 2027 LAL 1st (unprotected), 2031 LAL 1st (unprotected)
PHI Out: PG, #3

Nah kept Reaves for DDV out of deal to cut Minny off.

Deal works fine like this.

This. By all reports, Utah was parrying away offers for Kessler up until the deadline. There are certainly other Jazz fans who value him far less than I do (and Ainge & co appear to do).

And regardless of how the market now views Markannen's value, I have seen no indication that the Jazz FO values him any less than before. There's no reason to trade him now for a diminished return.

You would consider this and, by extension, you think the Jazz should, but do you think the Jazz would? I'm not convinced, but not because I think in lockstep with Ainge. I soured on Keyonte prior to the 2024 deadline and would have jettisoned him last summer, something I don't think was considered for a second.

I hope they would, but I don't know.

Of course I don't know either. I'm just basing this assessment on the decisions they've made and what I’ve read in the media. We shall see.
