Jamal Murray and Lauri to NOP

Post#1 » by nolaPELSfan » Tue May 27, 2025 12:46 am

NOP: Jamal Murray, Lauri Markkanen

DEN: Herb, CJ, Olynyk, Jordan Clarkson

UTA: #7, '31 DEN 1st, Michael Porter Jr, Jordan Hawkins, Dejounte Murray

NOP consolidate into 2 highly valued players.
DEN gains flexibility yet gets players who can help.
Utah gains assets for bad salary

I don't see anyone Denver is receiving as being good or valuable as Jama Murray for Denver. If their goal is to win championships, which they are a clear contender currently, I don't see them downgrading this drastically. They downgrade in talent, fit, and future assets. A true headscratcher.

New Orleans pays for 2 lower-end stars in Lauri/Jamal, yet Utah is receiving all the value.

If the Jazz were receiving expirings in exchange for Lauri and the trade was cap neutral, then I might find that opinion somewhat reasonable. But they're not. How much of the value that Utah receives is for taking on an additional $14MM+ this season for a worse roster, DJM with a blown Achilles who has a high likelihood of never being the same player again, and MPJ who I just wouldn't want on my team. I'm not sure that the compensation would be worth it.

I’m starting to think Op actually hates the Pelicans. #7, Herb, CJ’s expiring contract, and one probably bad contract in Dejounte to pay Lauri and Jamal a combined over $100M per year for many years to be a treadmill team at best. Why would you want this for them?

lol just trying too hard to start fair i guess. you're technically right though, i do hate them as presently constructed give or take a few things, not those individually though.

Horrible for Denver, and an overpay for Lauri.

Take the 1st out and I'd do that. McCollum is a downgrade from Murray, clearly, but Herb Jones and Olynyk would be great additions. Jordan Clarkson brings the bench scoring they really need. And the Nuggets would have $30 million in 2026 when McCollum comes off the books.

What about taking out the Denver first, sending DJM to Denver and Nnaji to Utah?

Would still trim a few million off of Denver’s salary but give them the hope of a solid starter coming back midseason?

Utah still easily does MPJ, Nnaji, 7 for Lauri.
