Were the last 2 MVPs (2023-24 & 2024-25) incorrectly awarded?
For the 2023-24 season, Jokic was awarded MVP, SGA was 2nd, and Luka was 3rd. But if you look at the stats and contributions to the team's success, then Luka should have won the 2023-24 MVP. (Remember the year before, the Mavs were in the lottery).
For the 2024-25 season, SGA was awarded MVP, and Jokic was 2nd. But if you look at the stats and contributions to the team's success, then Jokic should have won the 2024-25 MVP. (Jokic has one of the greatest seasons ever with injured teammates).

Correctly awarded in this best player of a top 5 team system
But Jokic is the best player in those 2 years
Maybe we’ll have a most oustanding player award in the futur
And a futur player fan will be able to say : « lebron and Jordan never won MVP, MOP, Conference finals MVP and finals MVP in the same season! »

You make it sound so simple. I am pretty sure all of the voters looked at "at the stats and contributions to the team's success" yet most of them reached a different conclusion.

Until the MVP requirements are a clear criteria, it doesn't even matter. I voted the last 2 were correct. Best player in the league should be the MVP considering it's not including the playoffs, but narrative and winning seems to matter when they want it to matter.

I would've voted for Jokic both seasons.
But I think Jokic and SGA both had all-time RS+PS's.

Jokic should've won in 2023, Luka in 2024, Jokic in 2025

They got the last 2 correct, or at least correct enough. The last one they truly got wrong was Embiid, which also should have been Jokic.

Nope, if you look at the impact stats you’ll see that Luka’s never been close. Up to you what you want to value of course, but the feeling that Luka was carrying his team to higher regular season performance beyond his rivals - while common - isn’t based on anything analytical other than pure volume box score, which has always been known as problematic and has led the NBA to drastically change its approach in the past couple decades.
Jokic vs Shai has been debatable both years though even though I’d side with the voters.
Last time the voters were wrong was Embiid.

What does the Mavs being in the lottery in 2023 have to do with anything? Maybe that’s because Kyrie only played in 20 games and they were trying to build chemistry, the team underperformed, and then tanked to keep their draft pick. The season was a massive disappointment after they made the conference finals the year before.
The only stat Luka was ahead was ppg. Jokic was ahead in PER, WS, WS/48, BPM, and VORP.
For SGA he had a great year, led the league in WS and WS/48, won 68 games, and played in 6 more games than Jokic. For 1 game I would rather have Jokic but I’m totally fine with SGA winning the season MVP award.

I had Shai the last two years. Before he ascended to MVP level, they weren't contenders. Winning 57 and 68 with the youngest group in the league speaks volumes for me. The youngest team is not supposed to win in this league.

If were being honest Jokic should have like 5-6 in a row, its honestly not as close as many here like to argue.
Jokic should've had 21-24 easily, no one compares close to him imo. 2025 i get the SGA vote and respect it, but i personally think that Jokic was "More Valuable" to his team then SGA was. Take Jokic off Nuggets and they're likely bottom 5 team in the league last year, take SGA off the Thunder and i bet you still a playoff team. I understand voter fatigue, and i understand SGA had an amazing season, but not what i personally would've voted for.

Winning always matters, is a bit of a revisionist history to say voters aleays change criteria when criteria is very consistent
There are outliers (17 westbrook, 22 jokic, 01 iverson) but they usually happen when the top team players didnt have remarkable seasons, there is not a team with a truly great record or the top teams players shared the credit with a co star

I’m not the biggest Iverson fan but the 01 76ers were the 1st seed and won 56 games. The only team that won more was the Spurs with 58 wins.
I think a better example would be Kareem in 76 when the Lakers won 40 games and missed the playoffs or Moses Malone in 82 when the Rockets won 46 games.

Luka missed large parts of the season and was a sieve on defense. His team also was not in the top 4.

I wouod have voted Jokic the last 3 years, but I don’t hate the SGA one.
