NBA Draft 2025 Player Development

Post#1 » by thomas1897 » Wed Jun 11, 2025 10:39 pm

The Lakers can use their resources wisely. Hansen Yang could be a good prospect to select. Consider his assets and upside. Size matters and is he teachable and physical enough to play in the NBA within two years or less. Can JJ Reddick place him in the G league and summer camps to develop a good NBA center. Remember Zubac's development took some time. The Lakers have used recycled players and misfits to fix this problem at the number 5 position. Could Colin Castleton have been better? The Lakers are a now team, but player development is not on the agenda. The G league is bankrupt investing in young talent player development are absent. Purchasing a second-round draft pick could be a worthy investment if the management has any type of plan.

With the new ownership group in place I'm optimistic they offer a good chunk of cash considerations for a better 2nd round pick. I don't expect Hansen Yang or similar prospects will be there at 55 but if we can move up to early 40s or maybe even 30s that will be great.

There are a few interesting names left on the board for the Lakers to take.
My favourite is Noah Penda, after him it's either Adou Thiero or Maxime Reynauld

Lakers traded up from #55 to #45 using cash.

Glad to see new ownership already paying dividends with money infusion.

They're clearly eyeing someone, possibly a C like Kalkbrenner or Goldin. Raynaud won't be there at #45.

Nailed it.

Although Yang went way higher than expected.

With Renauld on the board still, hoping this means they have a good feel for FA Centers instead. Still in on Brook Lopez.

Thiero is a no brainer though. He would've went top 20 if not for getting injured, he was mocked around there all year.

You won't find a better dog and perimeter defender in this draft. All world athletic ability and reckless edge.
Will be a big part of the rotation right away, especially if DFS bolts.

I'll go on a limb and say he's getting way more burn than Knecht.

 Ya. To be more accurate on my previous statement new ownership won't officially be in place until later this year (3rd or 4th quarter) so we can thank the same regime we've had for this recent draft maneuvering which to be fair they've already had a habit of buying into the 2nd round.

We got a good one.

Adou Thiero is a beast of a wing. His motor is NBA ready. He’ll make an impact on both ends.

His defense will take PT from Knecht but I don’t mind having two starting caliber young wings.

Renaud will bug me though.

The reign of the King James era is coming to an end. Lebron has had an impeccable career. Now management and new ownership have a new direction. Laker Fans/ Laker Nation a new day is coming. Look beyond today and see a new horizon for the Los Angeles lakers.

The lakers need to be disciplined and build a winner: How, getting everyone fit to play is the number one priority. Last year's weaknesses are defense and rebounding and the bench production. JJ Reddick has to have more confidence in his bench and depth. These areas do require attention. Can the management address these problems? Review the Lakers starting five is: Ayton, Luka, Lebron, Reeves and Hachimura. Next is Hayes, Vanderbilt, Knecht, and (Vincent can he regain his skillset that he displayed in Miami?). Players from 8 thru 10 need upgrades. Free agents, summer league prospects, overseas talent, minor trade possibilities and the waiver system can attribute to a solution. My opinion this can be done with the right mix of players that fit into this system.
