Liverpool has agreed to a transfer worth as much as $157 million with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. Liverpool won the bidding for Wirtz despite competing interest from Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
Wirtz is one of the best young attacking midfielders in the world. Wirtz was the Bundesliga Player of the Season in 23-24 when Leverkusen won the Bundesliga. Wirtz had 16 goals and 15 assists last season as Leverkusen finished second behind Bayern Munich.
If Wirtz triggers the add-ons, the transfer fee would surpass the one in the summer of 2023 when Moises Caicedo went from Brighton to Chelsea.
