Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jun 29, 2025 7:46 pm

LeBron James revealed his wife Savannah is pressuring him to retire within the next year during a dinner conversation caught on social media. James enters his 23rd NBA season at age 40.

James reportedly made the comments during a New York dinner with his wife, Kevin Love, and other confidants this past week. One dinner guest captured James saying his wife "wants me to f---ing retire in the next year or so" on Instagram.

The four-time NBA champion turns 41 in December and has openly discussed retirement timing in recent months. James committed to playing the 2024-25 season but acknowledged it could be his final campaign.

James previously explained his approach to determining when to step away from basketball during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show in March. He emphasized mental preparation and daily commitment as key indicators.

"It's popping up more and more every year," James said. "Obviously, I know that I'm on the other side of the hill than the other side. For me, it's about my mind. I'm all about the process."

James detailed specific warning signs that would signal his career's end. He cited losing motivation for pregame preparation, training, and film study as decisive factors.

"If it gets to the point where I don't feel like showing up to the arena five hours in advance. Or I don't feel like training. Or I don't feel like studying the scout sheet of guys. If it gets to that point, I'll know, 'You know what, Bron, that's a wrap.' I will be able to tell," James explained.

The revelation adds personal context to James's career timeline as he approaches potential retirement decisions. James exercised his $52.6 million player option for the 2025-26 season with the Lakers on Sunday, but his evaluating his future as he wants to compete for a championship.
