2025 Summer League
Our Summer League roster so-far:
Bub Carrington
Keshon Gilbert
Tres Johnson
Jaylen Martin
Kadary Richmond
Will Riley
Jamie Watkins
Not on the list is Tristan Vukcevic who the European press has reported we offered a Two-way contract, no-doubt his agent is search for a better deal for the Wizards to match/reject.

Alex Sarr is playing in some European tournament in August so it'll be interesting to see if he plays in summer league. I'd also have to imagine that Dillon Jones will be playing in summer league along with Kyshawn George.

Not on the list, clearly HoopsHype needs an update, perhaps they are going by officially released info.

Re: 2025 Summer League
Outside of our guys, I’ll obviously be watching the Big 4.
Outside of the Big 4 I’ll be checking for:
Asa Newell, Cedric Coward, Max Shulga, Maxime Raynaud (I think it’s gonna hurt), Rasheer Fleming, Alijah Martin, Will Richard, Micah Peavy, Adou Thiero, Khaman Maluach (I just had my doubts about him), and Yang Hansen (just very intriguing).

I like watching SL, but I try not to get too high or low on young players. There are so many guys that just want to jack shots and the defense is iffy, that those big guys are going to get fewer touches. I also wonder if we run a five-guard lineup or we'll be getting some of the stiffs we've had in the last few seasons in SL, who are about 27 or older and have no shot at the NBA.

I’ve never noticed, has anyone ever ran a five-guard lineup in SL?
That’s true about what goes down in SL. I think you can spot certain traits in SL though; I think it can be somewhat telling especially for a returning player.
I think that’s why I’m not much of a fan of Vukcevic.

Jonathan Pierre listed as a 6'9" guard.

Seems very much like a Dawkins guy.

Re: 2025 Summer League
LSBF's strategy:
We should try to win two titles this year: Summer League and the In-season tournament.
This summer, let's play all of our solid young ones and run a real offense, etc. Bub, George, Bilal, Sarr, Vuc, Champanie, Riley, Tre. etc and throw in a decent vet big.
Then, during the in season tourney, lean on your vets -- McCollum, Smart, Middleton, Richaun -- to try to make a run. Treat them like playoff games.
For the rest of the season, make it like intramurals, everyone gets to play, multiple positions. Learning, discovery and tanking.
This is the best of both worlds scenario. Young guns learn to win while also getting to play. The beleaguered fan base gets something to root for.
It's kind of like a second division European soccer team making a run at its country's open cup.
What do you all think? Should we get a memo to Will D?

Re: 2025 Summer League
I'm just hoping no injuries. Playing in the games to continue their development is not that key for guys like Bub, Sarr, Bilal, etc. who have 70+ games as a pro. I do really want to see Tre dominate, find out if Riley can play, maybe find a big man who has an upside.

I'm curious to see Jamir Watkins. Be nice to have picked up a bargain!

I think he is another guy who had a late growth spurt.

From an article on undrafted free agents
By Maxwell Baumbach
“Jonathan Pierre is one of my favorite sleepers in this group, ranking 50th on my board. The 6’9” player out of Belmont has apparent flaws. He’s not a physical player, and he only made 47.7% of his halfcourt rim attempts this past season. That’s bad! But the strengths here are fantastic. Pierre is a great defensive rebounder (21.6 DRB%) who likes to push the tempo. He’s a tremendous shooter (36.9% from deep on 12.2 attempts per 100 possessions) and savvy passer (3.5 APG to 1.9 TOV). His shooting and feel are rare for a player of his height. If you squint, you can see some Jaylen Wells in here. Perhaps I’m over-indexing on the strengths of a flawed mid-major prospect, but I love the idea of swinging on a guy who does the key role player things extremely well while boasting excellent positional size. He’s a bargain on an Exhibit-10.”
He measured at Portsmouth:
6’9.25” in shoes with an 8’10.5” standing reach and a 7’0.5” wingspan.
Summer league is going to be fun. Win-win situation, if they look promising I get to imagine how great they may become in 2027. If they crap the bed, Summer League doesn’t mean much anyway.
