[Windhorst]: Lakers ownership informed Luka they were selling; did not inform LeBron

Post#1 » by OrangeBlueSkies » Fri Jul 11, 2025 8:19 pm

Per windhorst, lakers ownership notified Luka they were selling the team, but not LeBron?!

I’m sorry that and the fact that they didn’t reach out to LeBron to extend hin beyond this season, they are spitting in the face of an all time GOAT who brought them back to relevancy.

Absolutely gutted for LeBron. He deserves more in his finals years.

Every King has His Reign...

I met a traveller from an antique land,
Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. . . . Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal, these words appear:
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal Wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.”

The Rockets did a sign and trade with Hakeem after only offering him 13M. I can’t feel too bad for Lebron for making over 50M and not getting advanced notice of the sale. It makes sense for the Lakers to prioritize the younger star over the older star, just like how they did with Shaq and Kobe.

What are the Lakers doing?

It's like they trying to put Luka against LeBron and kill the team chemistry inside the locker room.

If you don't want LeBron why not make it known.

Or maybe this is just the media trying to cause tension.

I really don't think I want to root for the Lakers this next season. Since Jerry passed, Lakers management has been very...weird. You can tell there is disharmony within the higher ranks because the teams' goals have not been consistent. They won a ring the year Kobe passed and proceeded to dismantle any possibility of repeating. This is AFTER mortgaging the future to get AD and LeBron.

Then they sell but Jeanie sticks around? Hmm.

Give me a break.

They don't owe him **** anymore. They did him a solid by drafting his son and listened to him when it came to building the roster over the last 8 years.

The reports immediately upon the news breaking of the team selling that they did in fact, inform both of them.

I don’t understand what the point of that article even is. When the sale was agreed and announced, LeBron hadn’t even picked up his option yet. Does he want an extension and hurt about not getting one? Is he laying the groundwork for an inevitable move? Unless Denver, Milwaukee or OKC make an offer, he isn’t going to find a better teammate than Doncic and the roster moves the lakers can make are going to be limited because him and Luka account for a significant portion of the capsheet and they traded a pick for Westbrook at his behest and then traded another to get rid of him. So the treasure chest isn’t exactly full.

Windhorst has become unbearable. He also claimed Lakers will end up with multiple centers at the start of the free agency and some other stuff. I think most of what he's saying is a "clickbait". Ever since Lebron called him out he's become a drama queen.

Yeah that stinks if true but is it? Didn't LeBron distance himself from Windy?

Why would you be surprised? The Lakers went with Kobe over Shaq for similar reasons. They're going to put the franchise first.

Which owners? The buyers or sellers?

Cause if sellers (what OP said)....why does that matter?

This doesn’t mean anything. They can pivot, that makes sense. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t have informed LeBron and his camp too. That has nothing to do with prioritization and everything to do with respect.

Trading James to Cavs is complicated. Not even sure he has value to convince Cavs to do it.
