Miami - Sacramento - Brooklyn

Post#1 » by Godaddycurse » Mon Jul 14, 2025 3:00 pm

Miami trade: Rozier
Miami receive: Derozan

Sacramento trade: Derozan, Saric, Davis
Sacramento receive: MPJ

Brooklyn trade: MPJ
Brooklyn receive: Rozier, Saric, Davis

Why for Miami: duck the tax and get a better player to try to win this year
Why for Sacramento: roster balance
Why for brooklyn: get capspace next year

add 2nd(s) if needed

The Valanciunas and Saric trade is now formally official which I think means we can’t aggregate Saric in another trade. Is that right?

Yeah that makes sense. For some reason I thought the grace period was longer than that and we’d have to wait until the deadline to aggregate him again.

I don't get this for Brooklyn. Sacramento... Maybe I see it, sorta? Miami definitely, I get it, even though I don't want the player. It just seems like, without some sort of incentive, Brooklyn should be dealing with Sacramento.

He's only guaranteed for $10 million next year, and they just agreed to take on MPJ just a couple of weeks ago. They're obviously prepared to have that salary next year and beyond. So I don't see them giving up MPJ without getting something they like.

Kings add carter to the trade to get this done or, a couple 2nd rounders. Carter might be very good but right now he is buried on the bench with no way to get him time with as many guards as we have.

Kings still have a logjam that needs to be dealt with after this deal.

Schroeder/ellis
Lavine/monk
Keegan/clifford
Porter/raynaud
Sabonis/eubanks

That roster has a crazy amount of shooting.

They agreed to take on MPJ's extra money vs Cam Johnson for DEN 2032 1st. now they get to get off that extra money for free..

Regarding the deal itself, I’d do this from the Kings perspective.

It rebalances us a bit as we swap DeRozan for a PF which allows LaVine to swing up to SF a bit and open up minutes for the plethora of guards we have. I’d still like to move Monk, and go into next season with a guard rotation of Schroder, LaVine, Carter, Ellis, & Clifford with LaVine & Clifford being able to swing up to the 3 for a few minutes too.

The contract situation is ideal as well since LaVine, DeRozan, and Schroder all have 2 years left on their deal (setting us up to try and make a big move during the 2027 off-season) and Porter also has 2 years left on his deal so we don’t have to worry about disrupting that summer.

Get my Bulls involved
Sac sends DDR to Miami and Davis/Saric to BRK
Sac gets MPJ

Miami sends Rozier to BRK
Miami gets DeRozen

Bulls send JCarter to BRK, along with the Port 1st
Bulls get DCarter

BRK sends MPJ to Sac
BRK gets JCarter, Saric, Davis, Rozier (buyout JCarter, I assume)

Miami gets an awesome bench scorer-they could contend with
Herro/Mitchell
Powell/KJ/Highsmith
Wiggins/DDR/Highsmith
Bam/JJJ
Ware/Jovic

BRK adds a 1st and gets more cap space next year

Sac gets a perfect fit, moving Murray to the 3 and adding more shooting

Bulls get Carter, who they were rumored to like last draft

From a Miami perspective count me in. The Heat duck the tax while improving the team without giving up an asset. This would mimic what they just did with Powell. They can have Powell or Derozan as a super 6th man. It also gives them some flexibility in potentially dealing Wiggins for future assets. It also could help in contract negotiations with Herro. I can also see the benefits for Brooklyn and Sacramento. Good deal all around.

Nice trade all around. Is MPJ perfect fit in Sac, no....but neither is DDR. I rather gamble on mixing it up than watching another round of Sacramento Bulls edition.

What exactly are the Kings getting for giving the Bulls Devin Carter?

nothing extra than OP. think he was replying to another sac fan (longfellow?) saying hes willing to add devin carter. I dont think carter is needed personally

My preference here would be to deal directly with Miami and just take Rozier and then buy him out. We need to stop adding bad money vets to the team and reset a bit.

But obviously Vivek has other plans. So i'd still do OP. Not whatever version we just toss Devin Carter to Chicago for free lol.

Add Deven Carter? Absolutely not. The deal is more than fine as currently constructed. It’s not wise to simply surrender value because you have a log jam. You move someone like Monk before you trade Carter for peanuts especially considering we’re not going to be competing for anything serious in the next year or 2 (at the very least).

It a fan of MPJ - especially at PF. He’s a horrible rebounder and neutral at best defender. Plays below his size and wants to shoot outside a LOT.

We need inside Defense from that position.

I disagree with the part about rebounding. If he is a terrible rebounder that seems kind of crazy that he manages to get 7 boards a game next to Jokic and Aaron gordon. Obviously he isn't the best defender, but being a perimeter guy isn't a problem, we don't really want anyone clogging the lane other than sabonis.

I also get that we shouldn't have to include additional value to get Porter, but right now Carter won't see any playing time with our current roster, and if it takes incentive to swap derozan for a similar amount of production from the front court then I do it.

And MPJ's contract lines up with Lavine meaning if we don't want to keep them we will have a ton of salary space in 2 years.

2 bolded here-
1. Just because the franchise is stupid and has 3 shooting guards that need to go, doesn't mean we should be giving up Carter for free. Next year we can get out of the DeRozan business for cheap. I think Monk is gone by the deadline. And hopefully LaVine is either bought out, declines his contract, or is traded before the start of next year.
Plenty of room on the team for Schroder, Carter, Keon, Nique.

Also are we sure he won't get playing time? I wouldn't be surprised if we play very small looking at the roster today. Assuming Monk doesn't get moved before the season starts. Who is the backup 4? I think DDR will play a lot of 4 even if that makes me sick.

2. MPJ is getting massive money the next 2 years. I think at best you can argue he's neutral value, but I would say its likely hes a negative. He's owed 79 million the next 2 years, DeRozan is owed 35. Now I'd swap the 2, but I think the financial incentive for Brooklyn is plenty considering neither is in the long term plans.
