Two prototypical 3 and D wings of the 2010s. Who you got?

Trevor Ariza

1.5 stls
42% FG
35% 3PT (4.1 attempts)
Career-high: 35 points

Nic Batum
17 years (1,131 games)
10.0 ppg
4.8 rpg
3.1 apg
0.9 stls
43% FG
37% 3PT (4.2 attempts)
Career-high: 33 points

I’d go with Batum. He had a dimension to his game (playmaking/ball handling) that Ariza never had. They’re around the same quality of shooter (with a career and peak edge to Batum in efficiency, 3pt% wise) and defensive player.

this is a fun debate but I think im going to go with Batum. Peaks its really close and i could see it either way probably depends on what you need. Ariza is probably a better pure 3&D guy (at least a better POA/ on ball defender) and Batum better as a connector, secondary creator, and helper defensively. With that being said Batum has a longevity advantage Ariza can't really make up for

Trevor Ariza played forever for a 3&D guy, 18 season 1118 games, and he was a solid player until the end of his career.

Batum has played 17 seasons, 1131 games. How is that a longevity advantage that Ariza cant make up for?

I’m looking at the actual quality of the play when I mention longevity not necessarily just how long they played ariza has 13 years as a quality role player (07-20) where Batum it’s pretty much his entire career

I like this type of non-star comparison. I will go with Batum as well due to being more dynamic offensively, mostly as a facilitator, with similar defensive impact
