Josh Okogie and the Houston Rockets have agreed to a one-year, $3.1 million deal. Okogie was recently waived by the Charlotte Hornets ahead of his $7.75 million guarantee date.
Okogie appeared in 40 games last season with the Phoenix Suns and Hornets, averaging 7.1 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 15.6 minutes.
Okogie, who is represented by Calvin Andrews, will give the Rockets another wing defender.

Maybe you don't have all the info he has to make this decision. Maybe you're just upset he didn't go to a southern ca team instead.

lol not upset at all. also not my job to psychoanalyze a move. Optically, its a stupid move if he wants to play. He's like the 5th wing player on the depth chart

You're right, its not your job and that's why you don't know the reasons why he chose Houston. You also don't know the other offers he had to choose from. I doubt he just signed a contract blindly not knowing the situation he was going into.

On which team would he get meaningful minutes?
He played in non playoff teams last season and wasnt't even a starter.

You guys should settle down and just talk, you have an interesting debate here and you're probably both right. HOU is pretty deep but they aren't deep at what Okogie brings. FVV will miss some time. Holiday will only play big minutes when FVV is out. Tate and Sheppard won't play big minutes either. I would argue that none of the guards coming off the bench in HOU are obviously better than Okogie. He will have the opportunity to earn minutes on a good team, under a good coach.
On the other hand, I am not a believer in Okogie. I don't think he will ultimately earn significant minutes in HOU... and he might not have earned them on any winning team other than possibly MIL. (They probably weren't interested.) Any minutes he does earn will be earned on the defensive end and HOU is the right team for that.

Exactly. It’s pretty clear he knows his role and the league knows his role. Not like he’s gonna have a 25 ppg breakout season from getting more minutes. Probably was the best move for him. Sign a guaranteed contract and possibly win a championship with a contender and all he’s expected to do is come off the bench play some defense and make a couple hustle play

He'll play on guard position, which Rockets lack of.
