Alexander Isak Says Newcastle Relationship Can\'t Continue\" After Brok

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Aug 20, 2025 1:54 pm

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak publicly stated his relationship with the club \"can\'t continue\" following alleged broken promises, marking his first public comments on his transfer situation this summer.

The 25-year-old Sweden international posted on Instagram that trust has been lost between him and Newcastle management. Liverpool previously had a $140 million bid rejected for Isak on August 1, with Newcastle maintaining he is not for sale.

\"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can\'t continue. That\'s where things are for me right now and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself,\" Isak wrote on social media.
Newcastle responded with disappointment to Isak\'s public statement. The club denied making any commitments about a summer departure while keeping the door open for his return.

\"We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer,\" the club said in a statement.
Contract Talks Breakdown
The Athletic reported that former minority owner Amanda Staveley had discussed a new contract with Isak\'s representatives before leaving the club in July 2023. When sporting director Paul Mitchell arrived, he determined Newcastle lacked the financial capacity under Profit and Sustainability Rules to extend Isak\'s deal.

Isak was absent from Newcastle\'s pre-season tour and missed Saturday\'s Premier League opener against Aston Villa. He scored 27 goals last season and was named to the Premier League Team of the Season.

The striker remains under contract at St. James\'s Park, earning over $190,000 per week as one of Newcastle\'s highest-paid players.
