Hopefully Yanic becomes the next Giannis, because we might not get another FRP for a very long time.

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)
I am beyond done with Kawhi. I don't know how anyone isn't. It's been nothing but drama with him and nowhere near enough success to make it worth it.
If there's any truth to this particular story, then shame on Ballmer too. The league will hammer us for this and set our future back another decade, and it'll all be because of his embarrassing desperation for big names and shortcuts instead of just patiently building a team like well-run franchises do.
If it's true, then I think we've reached the point that Ballmer has to be seen as more of a bad owner than a good one. A shiny new arena can only do so much to balance out his reckless disregard for the team's future. And cheating is, of course, morally wrong in and of itself and a stain on the legacy of any owner who does it or allows it. It really sucks because, as critical as I've been of some aspects of his ownership, I never thought he'd sink to this level. I sure hope it's just media BS and not true.

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)
Here’s a pretty good thread detailing some stuff. It doesn’t sound as bad as this guy is making it sound?? Lot of info to go through still.
It’s hard to believe Ballmer wouldn’t cover himself better but we shall see. If it’s a common practice and players can just say that’s not on me but the company? All of it is weird which ever way it falls.
How do you prove the Clippers did the deal to circumvent the cap? No way they have evidence lying around,

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)
He was never worth all of this. I said that in the 2019 season when we were getting tampering fines, letting our lottery protected pick go to Boston for the chance to lose to GSW in the first round all so we could attract Kawhi. He never would have seen our team's value without us losing to GSW in 6...allegedly. I've maintained it every day since then.
I do not care if the league gives us some version of a death penalty.
I do not care if the league forces Ballmer to sell.
Some of us first guessed this BS a long time ago. If our owner wasn't going to heed the advice and is going to be a corrupt cheater? Take the punishment that comes with it.
I care not that "everybody else does it" either. "Everybody else" doesn't get caught. If you can't tighten your game up to make sure stuff like this doesn't leak, you deserve whatever is coming to you.

So the company in question was all ready investigated and dissolved?

how reputable is this source? Hopefully Ballmer didn't blatantly circumvent the cap rules- hard to believe they would be so blatant

To me Kawhi ranks #2 all time when it comes causing destruction to this franchise. I think you already know who ranks #1.

Excellent post. Can't believe I missed it.

For me, Sterling is obviously #1, Doc is #2 and Kawhi is #3. But if we lose a bunch of draft picks from this, Kawhi moves up to #2.

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)
What's crazy is that in hindsight, Toronto got the ideal Kawhi experience. He won a ring and then left before he and his uncle could ruin their franchise like they did to us and the Spurs.
At least the Spurs have already rebuilt, though. We're going to be screwed for decades. Thanks to Kawhi's selfishness and Ballmer's lack of patience or impulse control, we'll all probably be senile by the time the Clippers have the slightest glimmer of title contention.

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)
When will the Clippers be able to pick in the first round of the NBA draft again?
2037?
Please advise.
Please pray.

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)

It wouldn't bother a lot of other owners much, but the only thing that would bother Ballmer is suspending HIM PERSONALLY, that he can't come near the team for a year or two. Taking away his favorite toy would crush him.
I never liked the way he does business, from blatantly stalking Kawhi to dumping Blake to NBA Siberia [Detroit] after declaring him a Clipper for Life, to scapegoating Doc and Trezz for Kawhi and PG's punkout in The Bubble [neither received even a phone call from Ballmer], and dumping Lou Will like a dog for a washed Rondo. And I hate his team logos too, lol. I think they look like ass. He's a rich barbarian.
But hey, after 30 years of Sterling, I put up with it. But one minute, it's a family, the next minute it's a business. Steve's loyalty door only swings one way.
"I didn’t get a call, didn’t get a text, nothing... I gave everything to that team, played my heart out, and to not even get a conversation? That’s tough, man. It’s a business, but it’s cold how they do you."--Trezz

Re: This seems really bad (Kawhi cap circumvention)
I am curious if this doesn't happen all the time around the league. The Clips, of course, have to be the ones that get caught. That being said, there is probably enough plausible deniability since Uncle Dennis supposedly called the company during their bankruptcy proceedings to pay Kawhi. However, if they lose picks for the next 5 years ala Timberwolves, this team will never get out from under Kawhi forcing this team to bend over in such a ridiculous way. The Kawhi tax just gets steeper and steeper

Stephen A nukes Kawhi--Not only did KL make Ballmer trade away the future for PG but would join the Lakers if Ballmer didn't

Signing Kawhi has been the worst move in franchise history. We might not have a 1st round draft pick until 2050.

Not interesting or significant to me until there's actual substantial consequences (picks forfeited, suspension, etc) off valid evidence later. Otherwise its a bunch of dust till then.
