Is it tanking if you're just young and bad?

Obviously all these teams are at stage 1 of their rebuild. That means giving young guys opportunities and hoarding all the assets you can. The tanking part comes naturally when you're in this part of the team building cycle.

Washington will be forever "young" like Mel Gibson in his movie, when they kept trading decent players once they turn 23 like what they did to Rui and Deni Advdija.

Realgm depth charts are worthless, especially when the team hasn't signed everyone yet.

It's not really tanking when you suck unintentionally.

Don't forget to include the Charlotte frontcourt:
Centers: Plumlee, Diabate, Kalkbrenner
PF's: Undersized Miles Bridges, Grant Williams coming off ACL/meniscus injury

It's Sept 4, what are the chances bad teams would all of a sudden sign the best available free agents in the next 2 months or before training camp?

The Rui trade I understood. He wasn't very good in Washington, and his value was about to turn to nothing once he got paid. He's been solid for the Lakers, where he gets to be a pure scoring finisher next to big stars. It was never going to happen for him in Washington. I've been high on Rui since the draft, but with the Wizards he was looking like a chucker with low effort on defense. Rui is 27 now.

The Deni trade was crazier, particularly because they had him locked into that super valuable contract and he had just broken out. Now they did get a first round pick in that deal, as well as Bub Carrington, who they seem to like a lot. They got value back in that deal, even if it seemed pretty strange at the time.

Is it "unintentional" when teams deliberately not sign any good free agents the whole summer?

You just ignoring the fact the Bulls are in a RFA standoff with their starting PG?

1) Yes, of course some teams are tanking and will play youngsters in key roles.
2) Realistically, this was a poor FA class and good FA's don't want to sign with bad teams anyway.

Giddey will be back in Chicago. They probably won't be terrible early in the year.

Dallas isn't tanking and their starting backcourt might be Dlo Russell and Klay Thompson....sometimes with max stars and a moron GM, your roster can just make little sense....

So you’re talking about 1 specific team, got it.
