Good first half as Blazers lead most of the way. Kuminga ejected just before the half

Interesting game…
I expect we’ll see quite a few like this in the regular season. Decent games from the Centers. Sharpe missed some shots, but I still want him shooting.

Deni as PG is still pretty rough. Going to be very interesting to see if Scoot expanded his game in a couple months.

Blazers missing Camara really changes things. Matisse would really help, too. Hell, so would TL…

I look forward to seeing less of a few of these players.

Didn't see the game, but the box score tells a tale of a rough shooting night. 38% from the field, 20% from the three. And it wasn't just our summer league squad...
Grant 1-6
Deni 2-6
Jrue 0-4
Sharpe 1-5

Considering we were an abysmal three point shooting last year, then gave away our best shooter in Ant, I expect us to lose a lot of games on shooting nights like this.

I saw a majority of this game and it highlights a lot of the same problems they had LY.

At one point of the game I think GS was 3-15 from 3pt and POR was like 5-13

POR ends up 9-43 (21%) & GS ends up 18-50 (36%), expect this to be a continuing trend

and Sharpe looks great when he drives the ball or works in the mid range (6-11), from 3pt, 1-5...

In fact, the entire team was anemic from 3pt, Holiday 0-4, Grant 1-6, Avdija 2-6, Hansen 1-4, Wesley (who will play with Scoot out) 0-3, he shoots 3pt at a career 29.7% clip BTW...

Yang has some offensive capability but he is a revolving door on defense, woefully slow, easily taken out of position, very lumbering on that end.

Avidja is still a bulldozer to the rim, which works most of the time in his favor, but at critical moments he will get the offensive foul called on him and again, he led the team with 5TO, a continuing problem.

POR 38.5% FG% for the game, their transition defense is still atrocious, defensive rebounding, still pretty meh...

I really don't understand where the sentiment for Deni as a PG came from. Even as a secondary facilitator his assist rate is not good when gauged against his turnover rate

I think it’s the classic fan reaction of people seeing someone that is SF/PF sized with a tiny bit of handle and they automatically think Pippen or Luka.

Deni is a willing passer, but even Billups said in his preseason presser, that he prefers having an actual PG “out there”, and that there are a lot of little things that are different.
