SoCal Draft - Championship - GeorgeMarcus vs Laimbeer

Post#1 » by durantbird » Yesterday 9:22 pm

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

Bill Walton ( 1977 ) 14.3
Karl Malone ( 1993 ) 17.6
Jared Dudley ( 2015 ) 5.9
Kobe Bryant ( 2008 ) 20.6
Mitch Richmond (1996) 16.9

Bo Outlaw ( 2002 ) 3.6
PJ Tucker ( 2023 ) 3.0
Patrick Beverley ( 2019 ) 6.1

88.0

Bill Walton (38) / Bo Outlaw (8) / Karl Malone (2)
Karl Malone (38) / PJ Tucker (10)
Jared Dudley (36) / PJ Tucker (12)
Kobe Bryant (38) / Patrick Beverley (10)
Mitch Richmond (38) / Patrick Beverley (10)

Good luck, GM

Richmond is a capable ball handler and brings the ball up, then lets Kobe and Walton orchestrate the offense. Malone and Richmond were elite off-ball players and should make this offense more than a handful.

Kobe is a DPOY level defender with the lateral quickness, length, strength, and on-ball tenacity to make Magic uncomfortable. He denies Magic the ball, fights through screens, and basically minimizes his opportunities to facilitate. He's a rare player who can do that and still produce offensively. We'll pack the paint and invite Payton/Artest to take open threes - they just aren't making enough of those. Moses lives down low as well. Walton/Moses, Karl/Artest, Dudley/Jones, and Richmond/Payton is solid.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
