ASG 2008: great matchups!

Post#1 » by pl » Sun Jan 6, 2008 5:49 pm

It really looks like the 2 pest players at each positions are in different conferences.

At some point of the game we will see these battles:

PG: Kidd vs Nash (or Paul)

SG: Wade vs Kobe

SF: LeBron vs Melo

PF: Garnett vs Duncan

C: Dwight vs Amare (or Yao)

This year the matchups are dead on, no matchup problems like in previous years (because of Garnett changing sides of course.)

I'm really looking forward to it.

these pairs are exactly the top 2 players at their positions in my books

the matchups don't matter because the players slack off and play like ass until the 4th quarter. they're more interested in in uncontested layups and throwing alley oops.

How awesome would it be if Wade and Kobe were going at it full steam the whole game trying to own each other? KG and Timmy battling it out for every position?

If the players weren't so lazy the all star game could be legendary... alas...

there's a storya bout the Dream Team (I), one night they were all kinda trash talking about who was the best... it started an impromptu game, but b/c of all the trash talking the players were going at it full speed, full intensity... barkely, Jordan, bird, magic, stockton, all against each other.. there were some reports that it was the greatest game nobody ever saw. Alas...

Everybody is lazy in the game...last years game Kobe was the only one going at it 100%...

Id be cool if everyone took the same approach as Kobe.

It'd be cool to see those match ups at full intensity, but they won't go full intensity, and the players get substituted out often so that everybody can play. So we'd see the match ups for about a minute before different players checked into the game.

I think they should consider doing what baseball did, and make the ASG worth something.

USA National team scrimmage > all star games.

That game was phenomenal.
Thank you Bryan Colangelo.

Yeah, nobody really cares in the game. Last season's all-star game was a snoozer with literally the same matchups except Garnett was in the West.....

There's no such thing as a matchup in the ASG, since there is no defense... and you can't seriously think Amare will start over Yao.
