OT: SEO Updates!!! (Page 2)

Post#1 » by Dunkin On Ya » Thu Jan 10, 2008 12:59 am

Search Engine Optimization.

Here are the nuts and bolts. I am a local Real Estate Broker/Investor in the Lake County Florida area. I am trying to get away from the normal newspaper advertising and go 100% online.

I need some help from some of you internet experts as to how to get my company on the first pages of these search engine searches.

I already have a website...have had one for awhile, I am just now though trying to build my business via the internet. Any help from any of you in the "know" would be great.

I want people from all over, when they search for Lake County Real Estate...to see me first.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Here is a site I had bookmarked.
Maybe it will help or at least get you started.

The company that I work for actually just put out an article on search engine optimization in their latest magazine issue, maybe it can help:

If you want decent optimization, you should work with a company that specializes in SEO. Otherwise, the basic goal is to get as many relavent links as possible to your site and maintain topical and updated info on your site. good luck.

One thing that may help is getting ur site listed on Yahoo Local or Google Local Business Center. You can also advertise by doing Pay by Click advertising with sites like Yahoo and Google. I do that.

Hey, I just glanced at your site and noticed that the "Kids Beds" and "Hours" pages have a different background from the rest of the site.

Every page is black except those two which have white backgrounds. I don't know if it's supposed to be like that or not, but I thought I'd point it out.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help. It will be a long journey to get to where I want to be. I will be using ihouse to help with my SEO.

I am actually trying to get a hold of some player agents and various other agents to try to wiggle myself in and get involved in some of those big $$$ real estate transactions.

When these players come to Orlando or are traded, somebody has to deal with their real estate...why not me?

Another thing we are trying to do is to tap in to the overseas investors. A ton of central Florida real estate is being bought up by non-Americans.

I'll keep you all posted on my quest to be the Real Estate agent to the Magic family. When I was younger and in a different field, I actually had contacts with Darrell Armstrong, Tree Rollins, Derek Strong, Bo Outlaw, Gerald Wilkins and Ben Wallace. Once you get in good with them, they pass you around to each other. Wish I would have kept those contacts!!!

Just a little update as to what I've found out regarding SEO...I know some were interested.

To get your page high rankings in the search engines, you need the following:

1.) Fresh Content.
2.) As many links from relevant sites as possible.
3.) Blog (I've started mine and am on the first page of google searches on two of them.
4.) Clicks on your site. If your site is active, it has higher priority.
5.) Keywords. Still looking into this more...

I'll get you updated on how things are going. Hopefully this info. will help a few of you out.

Probably means that the contents of the page should be updated regularly so the search robots see that it's an active page.

I assume that they store information about the contents of the page. So if it changes, they will have multiple entries for the site, rather than just one.

But that's just my guess...

I do #1, 4 and 5. As for #2, i dont get that. Does that mean getting other sites to put a link of ur site on their page or does that mean putting a bunch of links of other sites on ur website? Can someone explain that? And as for #3, blogs, im too freaking lazy to do blogs plus i dont really know what to say lol.

Here is how I interpret #2, keep in mind this is all new to me, so I may butcher the inforamtion. By relevant links...I am a Real Estate Company. My relevant links are title, survey, home inspection companies, etc...

I need to try to get my company linked to as many of those sites as possible, creating a connection from various areas. These types of links will help you in your webpage rank.
