time to rate the assets?

Post#1 » by dflaschberger » Thu Jan 10, 2008 6:55 pm

I think it's almost time to make a move. Let's give the team 5 or 7 games. If they don't improve consistently, time to go young. I also believe we are the 3rd best team in the East

i think Kirk/ben/deng can stay. I like all three (I actually like all our guys). We all know that we need Tyrus and Noah to come on to take a step up. It looks like boston and detroit will own the East thru next season-lets stay competetive, then be ready to dominate after that.

Therefore, we will probably need an update on our assets, as far as keepers and trade pieces:

My call (it's hard, not many standouts, not many duds)

Deng (has to be #1)
JSMith (reasonable deal, playing great, solid guy-perfect for a contender)
Noah/Tyrus
Gordon (great scorer, too short, wants big deal)
Kirk
our #1 this year
Noc-would look great with Lakers
Gray
Thabo
duhon
VK
Wallace (not playing as badly as people think/contract too big)

Deng is a keep, I think we can all agree. I say try and dump Wallace somewhere, move smith for a #1 and an expiring-then play the kids. We could still make the playoffs, even sneak into the second round.

We NEED to know, more than anything, what we have with tyrus, noah (and to a lesser extent) gray and thabo

What we need
1. A big combo guard
2. A post man

I hope Pax's does not do a knee-jerk trade let's play the young players we have like Tryus,Noah,Tabo, and Gray but I think the Bulls will sign and trade Gordon this offseason.

I think you'll find it has more to do with economics than skill. Gordon is about to become a RFA, and seemingly wants big money. Noah and Thomas are still both on rookie deals.

I agree. My ranking is how I consider their value for retention.

And Deng doesn't want a big deal? or maybe they simply refused the deals offered because there was no negotiations.

Anyways heres mine

Gordon(need to add a better first option to the team and keep BG)
Thomas(Develop him for gods sake!)
Deng(I actually think we should probably trade him[see BG])
1st rounder(get a big something worthwhile at the 2 or 3)
Noah(See Tyrus)
Hinrich(Trade him to get that 1st option, or other pieces[BG shall be our PG])
Smith(more or less indifferent, I like him alot, but if he can fetch us something go for it)
Gray(lets see how he turns out)
Nocioni(if he doesn't get good soon, trade him
Thabo(there is yet hope...)
Wallace(omg someone save us)
