Pietrus and POB to HOU

Post#1 » by Pats19andO » Sun Jan 13, 2008 10:55 pm

Hou Gets: POB and Pietrus
GS gets: Mike James, 1st rounder

Why do it?
GS gets a backup pg who can shoot.
HOU gets rid of salary and gets a 2 guard and a young big man

Pietrus must accept this trade

Golden State cannot take on extra salary considering their impending FA position and Houston might be wary to trade 1st rounders in this western conference.

I think this would be unwise of Houston. James' contract isn't so big as to warrant trading a possible lottery pick to dump it.

Why would GS want James' contract?

They wouldn't, obviously. The Warriors have luxury tax concerns (as in the owner is unlikely to pay it) for next year resigning Biendrins, Ellis and likely Azibukie and Barnes, they have no reason to take on salary into 08-09 for a very limited role that they expect to be filled with a league minimum salary.

W's can't handle the extra years of James' deal, resign Baron/Ellis/Biedrins, and still avoid the tax.

SO no.
