Chicago-Cleveland

Post#1 » by Friend_Of_Haley » Sat Jan 19, 2008 4:25 am

I know this has been mentioned before, but it just makes too much sense:

Ben Wallace
Chris Duhon
for
Larry Hughes
Ira Newble
sweetener- could be conditional pick, Dwayne Jones, or something else.

Neither team takes on any additional risk salary wise.

Chicago gets rid of their two worst offensive players that are taking valuable minutes from Thabo, Tyrus, Noah, Gray. Cleveland get some veteran help. Duhon's offensive short comings won't be as bad with LeBron by his side. Wallace provides D and rebounding and Championship experience.

Edit- A straight Wallace for Hughes would work for Chicago too, but I though Cleveland might like this better.

NBA GMs wouldn't do it probably; they would be conceding that their signee is as bad as the other team's.

I'm not sure this deal does as much for Chicago as it does for Cleveland, but it balances out things somewhat for both.

Cleveland has no reason to do a straight Wallace for Hughes trade nor do they need additional offensively challenged players.

Do you see any type of deal based around Wallace for Hughes, within reason, that would be desireable to the Cavs?

The players the Bulls would be willing to add:
Duhon (expiring)
Khyrapa (expiring)
Griffin (next year expiring)
Curry
Nichols
perhaps Nocioni, depending on what you give back
perhaps 1st round pick (lottery protected)

Someone like Thabo or Gray could be added if the return was good enough. Anyone else wouldn't be worth it.

Cavs accept, I don't see how we could turn this down. We need defense in the post, this gives us a VERY strong 4-man rotation down low, and allows us to trade Gooden for a PG. Anyone is better than Hughes, and Duhon is a pure PG. If you want to throw in Nocioni, go for it!
