Smilin' Gabe

Post#1 » by Ricky_is_god » Sun Jan 20, 2008 2:30 am

I don't know if everyone knows, but there is a hell of a absketball tournament going on this weekend in Springfield, at the gym for Springfield College. About 10 of the top 25 teams are playing, and the best day is sunday if anyone can get out there...but I digress.

Tonight was the dunk contest and the celebrity judge was our very own Gabe Pruitt. I work for a new high school sports company TheSportsRooster.com (Check it Out), so I was able to ask Gabe a few questions after the event.

It seems like he is a great kid, I'm only 20 and he treated me like I was any sports reporter, and paid me the same amount of respect. He answered my questions eloquently and has a great sense of humor. I told him that I was glad to see him get some run, and I could tell he was really excited about his new oppurtunity.

I really hope he succeeds with us, he is a great guy off the floor. Just a cool story I thought I would share.

Sweet, he does seem like a good kid. Pruitt seems like he's enjoying himself. Everytime the camera shows him he seems to be smiling.

well as I said he was judging a dunk contest, so I asked him about the competition, how he fell into doing it, and what he would say to the kids. He gave me a minute answer for each question, he was a great interview. I asked him if he wanted to get out there and dunk, and he said he was saving it for the Celtics, which made me happy.

He was sticking around to meet fans and sign autographs for about a half hour after all the teams had left, which is another good sign.

I asked him about the playing time he's been getting and he just said he's excited to get in there and help the team. If the site I write for wasn't about high school I would have interviewed him longer, but unfortunately I had other things to write about.

Cool story man! I actually bumped into Gabe and Nick Young last year on campus at USC when I was visiting a good friend of mine. I was too starstruck to really say anything, so it's awesome you got to interview a pro athlete. Keep up the good work.
