Least Valuable Player: Vince Carter, New Jersey Nets

Nothing predicts a Nets freefall better than a comfortable, well-paid and unmotivated Carter. Half-man, half-hearted. They are in the middle of a coach-killing, eight-game losing streak, and no one is playing softer than Carter. He has stopped going to the rim, stopped risking life and limb and declared his new four-year, $62 million contract fit for a suburban jump shooter.

As badly as Rod Thorn would love to trade him, there are no takers. Ownership wanted to overpay Carter last summer

Yep VC is the least valuable player I mean NO ONE has been less valuable than him this season, not Shaq, not Larry Hughes, not Kwame Brown, not Boris Diaw, not Zach Randolph, not Rashard Lewis (who is putting up worse stats than Hedo), not...

Not Jason Collins, not Jamaal Magloire, not Andrea Bargnani, not Jameer Nelson, not Kevin Durant, not Darko Milicic.

It's VC he's the least valuable player.

RJ has no right to criticize anyones defense this season, he's been Nets worst perimeter defender all year, yeah even worst than Vince. Almost every match up on defense is taking it to him but maybe he's too busy already running for fastbreak than defending or boxing out.

Vince least valuable? Oh yeah, no one would care if he put Darko or some other overpaid not really marquee name underachiever instead so it's got to be Vince.

It's funny reading RJ saying you can't compare K-Mart / Kittles to VC / Boone since you can't compare RJ of yesteryear to RJ of this year. Sure he's getting points but at the expense of ball movement & expense of energy that clearly isn't going into defense anymore. Who would say only a few years ago that one can argue the merits of which player, VC or RJ, is the worse defender....

I love that everyone is throwing VC under the bus now but he still has the best roland rating on this "team".

VC is struggling big time recently and it's no surprise the Nets success / failure hinges on him & for anyone who follows him over the years the "news" that his supreme explosion is gone is no surprise..it's been gone for at least 2 years now and if he was Stromile Swift I'd be very scared but he has enough skills to still be a good and sometimes great player. He doesn't have the ability anymore to potentially scorch a team for 45+ and he's not a superstar and that's a shame but for someone who is a "regular player" & "least valuable player" in the league he sure does attract a lot of double teams & defensive attention & coaches are still scheming defenses based on him (not RJ or Kidd)..just ask George Karl.

Since he sucks so bad now maybe coaches around the league can catch on & let defenses play him man up & double RJ.

The Westcoast trip was a disaster and obviously Frank isn't going anywhere so Mgmt has to be looking to break up the big 3. Unfortunately for them one of their trading chips (VC) is being devalued although I laugh at any idea that trading Kidd/VC and rebuilding around RJ is a good idea. If they are going to rebuild they should try to take any offers on Kidd/VC and have RJ as ONE of the cornerstones of the franchise (like Iggy in Philly) but NOT the centerpiece.

edit: just have to add I love Barkley's "analysis" that when playing better defensive teams VC would struggle more to score.....hmmm, how peculiar ..?!?

So you guys understand since your putting VC at Collins & Kwame level. Thats what I think of VC too.

RJ is right.....You never see VC on any fast breaks. He is no where to be found. VC D sucks! RJ is a 100 times better defender than VC

I wish that was the truth, honestly. Bcuz you can fix laziness so there is chance he can still be the player he used to but you can't overcome your body gradually breaking apart which is what seems to be happening. One of the reasons Vince might not be taking risks and going for athletic plays is bcuz he is afraid to confirm it to himself that he can't do it anymore.

Comparing a second year, 22 year old player to a guy being paid 60+ million dollars, a guy who is suppose to be in the prime of his career and suppose to be your team's superstar. Smart, by LVP I think the guy writing this was trying to compare number 1 guys who have failed miserably at leading their teams this season. But wait, isn't Kidd your leader?

VC.....

You know you can blame his legs all you want but thats BS he's mostly just super super lazy.
Even when he's legs were like 100% he NEVER ran with Kidd, if he did we would have been a much better team.
Kidd knows this.
RJ knows it and he even sorta called VC out.
He screwed this team real hard when he played like an all star last year for his contract only to reveal himself this year- after getting paid Vince couldnt care less.
To think that if we dont trade him asap were gonna be stuck with an increasingly bad Vince for the next 4 years.........!!!

Someone has to motivate him.....someway somehow I dont care but somebody has to do it Frank failed missrebly and needs to be fired asap, but again I repeat Frank is a master polititian and will never never get fired.
Our last hope is starting some crazy trade talk to a bad team.

Wow, this board will be more against Carter than the Raptors boards soon...
I do what I feel, not because people ask me to do this,” Bargnani says, holding his hands over his head and doing a strange chicken dance.

You're right this guy needs a good beating. Oakley had to motivate him in Toronto.......Everyone sees it. Even Marc Jackson said it. SOMEONE HAS TO GET ON HIS CASE & MOTIVATE HIM......thats real sad to say......when VC the vet should be leading by example for our rooks like RJ does every game. :noway:
