Good move, imo. Let him develop instead of rotting on our bench; that way when we call him up, he will be more improved than he would with the DNPs.

fully agreed

p.s.: I don't it would work but we should try to assign green to the D-League as well if he's not too long in the league

Ooo, another reason to travel to Sioux Falls.

This could also signal the creation of a roster spot to do a trade.

I could be wrong, but I remember hearing that the D-league counts against the 15 man roster.

Regardless, I think it was a good move if he's not going to get time now. I liked a lot of what he did in his limited time, so this will probably be a good move for him.

Oops - you're right. I was thinking of sending a second rounder to Europe after the draft.

I used to think that only first and 2nd year players could play in the D league but Marcus Fizer played in it last year and he was drafted several years ago and was just trying to get back into the league after multiple injuries and surgeries and is playing overseas this year.

Its that teams can only assign 1st/2nd yr guys. Fizer wasnt on a team that assigned him to the d league.

This could be a sign that we are trading green for a big....perhaps...or maybe ratliff is will be back soon. Either way, it is what is best for Richard...then next year he can be our Backup C for good.

So we arent getting a free roster spot out of this then?

Oh well, either way, let him dominate the DL to build his skill and confidence.

I'll be at his first pair of D-League games on Friday and Saturday. Coach Tibbets in Sioux Falls is very good at developing players. Richard will join Charlotte Bobcats' rookie Jermareo Davidson in the front court of the Skyforce. His first two games are against Fort Wayne, who has a very weak frontcourt, but the Pistons will probably send rookie center Cheikh Samb back to Fort Wayne before the games this weekend. I'll post updates on Richard on DraftExpress when I get back from Sioux Falls.

I think it's a good move for him. I'm a Gator fan, so it will be good to see him get some playing time somewhere.

Awesome. How do these send-downs usually work - is he going to get heavy minutes right off the bat?

MNWI - I'm just curious who you'd say your top five players not in the NBA are right now?

February 14, 1989 - The Kemper Lesnik Organization announced its intention to place a CBA expansion team in Sioux Falls, S.D. Based in Chicago, the company provided the city of Sioux Falls with its first professional sports team. The team's nickname, Skyforce, was selected from 1,045 entries submitted in a "Name the Team" contest. Head Coach Ron Ekker and the Skyforce made their debut in the Sioux Falls Arena on Nov. 16, 1989, falling to the Rapid City Thrillers, 85-79, before a crowd of 5,125.

Thriving on mediocrity since '89.
