Quickie Quiz: If you are Eddie Jordan' brain and...

Post#1 » by Tiny Too » Mon Jan 28, 2008 10:09 pm

1) the big men on your team are Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Bill Russell, who gets the most PT at the 5 position???

ANSWER: Bill Russell, because he is only 6' 9" (while the other two are 7 footers and less nimble...later in their careers). Russell gives you the best chance to win at small-ball.

2) the big men on your team are Shawn Bradley, Mark Eaton, Georghe Muresan, Manute Bol, Yao Ming, and Darius Songaila, who gets the most PT at the 5 position???

ANSWER: Darius Songaila, because he can hit an occasional 20 footer (OK, Manute could hit a 3 once in a while) and stretch out the offense. Also, because he is the smallest of the lot, by definition, he gives your team the best chance to win when you decide to change the tempo and play small-ball.

3) When is the optimal time to go with a player at the 5 who can't jump, has no foot speed, rarely takes charges, rarely blocks shots, consistently fails to guard the the rim, and quickly puts his team in the penalty (fouls)??

Answer: Anytime is the optimal time, especially if your team is already being pounded on the boards and wants to change tempo by going to small-ball.

Me personally, I'd run Muresan at the 5 and Bol at the 4 and have the DC Twin Towers!!

Plenty of other threads for this conversation to fit nicely into.
