Jason Kidd to dallas?
from the Bergen Record:
The Nets are discussing a complicated three-team scenario with the Mavericks and Blazers in which Kidd would go to Dallas, league sources said. In return, the Nets would get back young players (Jarrett Jack and Travis Outlaw), expiring contracts (Devean George, DeSagana Diop), Jerry Stackhouse, draft picks and cash. More players, including other Nets, would be involved. Bergen Record

In the proposed trade, Dallas and Portland would send the Nets a package that includes the Mavs' Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse and Blazers forwards Travis Outlaw and Channing Frye and guard Jarrett Jack. Mavericks point guard Devin Harris would be sent to Portland. Along with Kidd, the Nets would send reserve forward Malik Allen and center Jamaal Magloire to Dallas.

The asking price for Devin Harris is Frye, Outlaw, Jack, a pick and cash? Why the hell would Dallas even bother with Kidd if they can get that package?

My guess is this:
-Frye is utterly expendable. With Oden returning next season, and possibly McRoberts or Joel Freeland entering the 12-man line-up, he is a nice bit of risk-free sweetener.
-Jack has been a disappointment; no point guard skills, and according to one of the Blazers mods, who I was talking to during the last game against them, the basketball IQ of a newt.
-I am surprised about Outlaw, but I've heard similar things; great athlete, has come a long way...but will likely always be a bench player. He too lacks the basketball IQ to be a starter on what could be an excellent Blazers team.
In return, Portland gets a guy that's not a pure point by any stretch, but that's not really a problem; Harris and Roy can easily share point guard duties. What's important is that Harris is a very efficient scorer, and will become one of the best PG defenders in the league. He's also signed 'til the end of time, and with a billionaire owner, being certain of having him in the fold might be a plus, even though his contract is not small.
I agree, though...it does seem like quite a bit to pay, but the Blazers would now have Harris/Roy/Aldridge/Oden; four positions solidified for the next decade. That's scary, and definitely worth an overpayment.

**** your asterisk.

because more than likely, they don't want to deal with a divisional opponent...that's my bet anyway.
dallas shouldn't move anyone, they're playing great ball right now and flying under the radar (kinda). that's how you want to enter the playoffs, playing great and having nobody talk about you...i wouldn't shake it up down there...but it is cuban!
