I think Philly is trading Miller for Thomas' expiring contract here.

Decent trade for Miami. Przybilla is a decent C, Raef gives them some cap space a year before Shaq would and Martell is a nice young player to help them rebuild. I haven't crunched the numbers, but off the top of my head, I'm fairly certain that they'd have some decent cap space in 09 after the deal.

Not good for Sonics. For one, if Portland were willing to give up a pick in this deal, it would need some lottery protection on it (which I'll get into later). A pick in the 15-20 range is not worth taking on 2 extra years of Miles' contract.

Philly? I guess it's OK if they want to dump more salary for this summer.

Finally, for Portland, doesn't make a ton of sense. I'll start off with the pick they have to give up. With how tightly packed the West is right now, Portland could easily miss the playoffs. And if Portland misses the playoffs, they'll want to keep their pick. This draft has a LOT of players that could be REALLY helpful to the Blazers, especially in the lottery. The things they need the most are a combo PG/SG or a SF. The lotto area of this draft is really stacked with those types of players, and this should be a fairly easy draft to move up in if need be.

Again, I haven't cruched the numbers, but I'm pretty sure this would hurt Portland's plan for cap "flexibility" in 09.

Then, taking on Miller doesn't make a ton of sense. Portland is already really packed with PG's. Adding another one just makes it even more jammed.

Portland likely passes on this deal.
