Nets and Mavericks
I think it's obvious that the Nets aren't going to get everything they want in a deal for Kidd but here is the deal I have come up with:
Deal #1:
Nets Send Out:
Jason Kidd
Darrell Armstrong
Malik Allen
Mavericks Send Out:
DeSagana Diop
Devean George
Jason Terry
Jose Juan Barea
Eddie Jones
$3 Million Cash
Analysis:
The Mavs get Kidd plain and simple, Armstrong and Allen are thrown in just so they thin the Nets roster more than anything else. They are serviceable role players though so they could find a role for the Mavs.
From the Nets side, the Nets basically get a couple of expirings in Diop, George, Jones, and Barea, they take on Terry's contract which is 2 years longer than Kidd's but ultimately expires at the same time Richard Jefferson's contract expires... Since the Nets aren't taking back any young talent this move is more of a retool than a rebuild, but I think it's a retooling move the Nets might want to consider since it's doubtful they can trade Kidd, Carter, AND Jefferson. Terry would give the Nets an outside shooter that the Nets have lacked for the longest time and he's also a serviceable point guard so all in all it's not like the Nets are getting completely ripped off, sometimes you have to take a step back to move forward [/end rant]
edit: The cash would be used to buy out Devean George.
Deal #2:
Nets Send Out:
Bostjan Nachbar
Mavericks Send Out:
Trade Exception (from the Anthony Johnson trade)
1st round pick
I'm not sure if the Nets would do this, if they keep George then they probably would if they buy him out... I think this deal could still go through, the Mavericks basically add a solid bench player and the Nets get to shave some salary and get another 1st rounder...
---
Thoughts, comments? I'll probably revise this trade tomorrow, maybe I'll have Diop sent to a third team since the Nets have quite a few bigs as it is...

Honestly, I really just dont see the need for Jason Kidd on this Dallas team. If we are going to aquire Kidd, he makes more sense playing next to Jason Terry, however, there is no way in hell we give Devin and keep Terry. So thats the prediciment for me.
I would much much much rather go after a Mike Miller, Ron Artest or Corey Maggette than Jason Kidd. Adding Kidd with Harris lessens Harris' role and will set him back another few years as long as he is here.

Kidd to Dallas just is not going to happen unless it's a complete steal.
Something like this:
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/t ... &te=&cash=
Cleveland gets: Jerry Stackhouse
Cleveland gives: Eric Snow & 2008 1st
Miami gets: Jason Terry
Miami gives: Jason Williams, 2008 2nd
Dallas gets: Jason Kidd
Dallas gives: Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, Maurice Ager, 2008 1st
New Jersey gets: Jason Williams, Maurice Ager, Eric Snow, Cleveland 1st, Dallas 1st, Miami 2nd (high 2nd)
New Jersey gives: Jason Kidd
I can' see us depleting our 3-5 spots to aquire a PG that will hold Harris down even further.
A much, much better fit talent wise, salary wise and personnel wise (from Denver's POV) is Allen Iverson for Jason KIdd. But I know NJ doesn't want AI. But if they are talking "retool" that is the way to go.

You got 3 picks and salary relief. Anything more = no Kidd to Dallas. That is, unless Clevland would up the ante by taking out the pick and giving you Jones & Newble instead of Snow (Ager to Cleveland to rejoin Shannon Brown).Serpo wrote:Eric Snow Uargh this guy forgot to play at all , at least add Barea to NJ or R.Terry , Faz .

It's not like NJ needs another Bigman they already have 3 relativly young bigs , that all shown some promise .
But if you add a longer contract the player has to be useful or you have to send the money to buy him out .
Btw. I don't think Kidd gets traded unless Thorn has a plan where to dump Carter or get's a quality offer.
