If you could get Curry for cheap. (Eddy)

Post#1 » by PharoaheMonch » Tue Feb 12, 2008 8:22 pm

You do it.

We'd be one hell of a tough team to guard. Options galore. Inside scoring would be automatic with EC at the helm. He's exactly the type of guy we need to balance off our offense, because his game is 100 % DEEP post and then some.

We could play him 15-20 minutes a game and he'd be effective in switching things up. Yeah he's a really weak defender and his rebounding could be much better, but offensively he's what we need. I don't think anyone can deny the impact he'd make for us on the offensive end. We would be near impossible to figure out.

I would still take Rasho over Curry.

Curry may be a good offensive player, but when has this team had any trouble putting points up on the board? Rasho plays better defense in the post and that's what this team needs most from it's bigs.

Honestly, people are quick to rag on a guy like Eddie Curry because it's the popular thing to do. We can all agree that New York is an unorganized mess beyond belief on and off the basketball court, but especially on.

Eddie Curry isn't even close to being properly utilized in NY. He is a much better player than what he shows (and he shows enough when he's getting the touches). I think people overlook the fact that when it comes to quality inside scoring there are only a handful of guys you can list in this league. Eddie is one of them.

Um, when our outside jumper isn't working, and Bosh can't work inside - i.e. every second game. Then what do we do?

Define Cheap?

If the Knicks are looking to unload him for the sake of unloading him, and are so behind the eight ball to do so that they would offer to sweeten the pot then perhaps its to be considered.

However unless the Knicks are prepared to entertain a

Rasho + Dixon for Curry + Lee swap, (which I highly doubt)

the size of that contract and his questionable character override the fact that he averaged 7 boards last season.

It would be interesting to have an insider scoring presence that was not named Bosh, although I would imagine the Knicks would be seeking quality assets for Curry, and for a team in our position I am not sure it would be worth one of our top four players.

Please factor in the cost of hiring two chefs, expansion of lockerroom/players lounge and reinforcement of all chairs to cater specifically to the needs of Eddy Curry in any trade proposals.

You do know the guy gets more turnovers in a season than assists, steals and blocks combined right?

His turnovers almost double his other stats outside of points and rebounds...He's slow and can't run, and Bargnani is the defensive player of the year compared to him.

I think he'd be way too expensive for us.

...not so much his contract, but his food bill.

I like the idea but that would just not allow us to go for an above average wing player in 09 because of the salary cap. I know a lot of people bash Eddy Curry for no reason. People in NY had a lot expectations from him but he was never the franchies player that people expected him to be. But he is a great offensive weapon and i still remember how he abused us last season and how tough it was to guard him. I would have taken a chance if we had a bad contract but we don't have one.

It's impossibly to get Curry cheap because he comes with a ridiculous, cap-killing contract that he can't possibly live up too because he only has one positive skill.

If we get curry, he automatically becomes the greatest center in the history of this franchise.

If I'm the Teacher's Pension plan, I'm seriously considering this move.

The amount you'd make back on his in-game concession purchases might cover the cost of his salary alone.

Too true. Curry has no place on the Raptors, a team that relies heavily on passing the ball. He has horrible court vision, he can never find the open man and as a result turns the ball over a lot since he has no idea what to do when double teamed.
